The Holy Robe really doesn't upgrade all that badly. Plus it looks awesome in combination with heavier grieves and gauntlets. My FTH build uses it with the Clerics legs and arms and a chain helm. It's not the most efficient combination out there but it looks awesome and it does it's job better than some combos might.

the heavy claric armor (what rheas guards wear) is a medium armor set, and offers good defense if you don't mind looking a little plump!

I did some research and the Dingy robes and Maiden skirt are the best light armors in terms of overall defenses along with the Wanderer Machette. The sage robes is the best in physical defenses. The big hat has the best overall defenses among light headgears. For medium armor the Paladin set is best overall medium armor (a bit too heavy).

the dingy/maiden sets are some of the best light armors in the game, they look good on female toons. also the cleric robes are good once upgraded, the black cleric set looks sick except for the mask thing, the black robe looks really good with haevy armor too. the cleric armor is one of the best med armors in the game in terms of defence and res(looks good on slim toons). also brass armor looks awesome and it's part of the dm cove which is a faith based cove.
