Just saw the trailer of Black Ops 2

And it looks awesome, but I wanted more graphics. These look too outdated. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure that's Black Ops 1. I mean it looks exactly like it. Must be some dude trolling.

The fact it spawns a sequel shows what is wrong with the gaming industry, even more so that it's obvious the game will be almost identical. Some famous words sum it up well: It's like the didn't even try.

One of my favorite "internet celebrities" puts it quite well. Doesn't matter if the video's old, it's still very relevant

Anyway, I'm kinda with you Serious in that I don't like modern FPS gaming trends. Tone back the emotional investment in the video I posted by about 40% and you basically have my views on the matter actually
It's not that I don't like the FPS genre, just that nothing interesting is coming out of it. Give me more TF2-ish stylized shooters and maybe I could get interested again, but as long as everything is about "realistic wartime settings" I'm not interested in the scene anymore :|

Genre needs to realise that taking itself less seriously would be beneficial.

Giant comedic weapons with crazy effects that are varied, zero attempt of realism, scripts that mock themselves.. Just needs to lighten up a bit in my opinion.

Haven't paid attention personally, I am not a fan of the COD series. I think that some of the games have been quite good, but I find that they are constructed far to frequently for me to purchase them (plus I prefer the BF series, but to each their own). I suppose I almost look at them like sports games. I bought a EA Tiger Woods game probably back in 2006 or so, and I have not purchased one since, because I find that they are too similar to one another for me to purchase every years copy.

As I told my friend, doing this is better then covering the last popular war. COD: Emancipation Front is worse then this.

Borderlands seems to be what you are asking for, Reaper and Serious.

I played borderlands and loved it. It's an awesome game to be fair and looking forward to number 2. (My first post was speaking about the popular FPS games really, though you can tell)

But I suppose that's a good example for what I think is a better approach.. I just think sticking to the real in terms of guns and inspiration for storyline just isn't imaginative or interesting enough.

RAGE is good but way too short and there should have been a bigger focus on the buggies. (That thankful moment when you acatch yourself after accidently hitting n instead of b for bigger). I have always been a fan of the sci-fi FPS because of it's license to depart from convention. I have had a much more memorable time playing Resistance, Killzone, and Bioshock because of that, despite their very serious stories.

I love killzone. Except for the cop out final battle in 3. That was just boring. And it makes no sense.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Resistance 1, but again it fell to the trap of becoming more like the realistic shooters, and took the fun out of the weapons in resistance 2.. another shooter which lost it's way :|

MW3 was the last COD I will ever buy the trailer proves my point. Playing modern FPS games is like paying for the same game 3 times in a row.

Ew, get away from me you filthy casual. Jokes aside, I never bought MW3 so maybe my year long break from cod will rejuvenate my love for it.

I've hated COD ever since MW2, as it was the same as MW1... It's rather ironic that MW concept was created to breath new life into the series, then it's subsequent sequels just brought the monotony back.

Hands down the funnest online I had with COD was the COD3 online, it was way simpler than newer COD online but was so awesome.

MW2 was the game that brought in all the squeaky 12 year olds that subsequently ruined the community. COD games are in theory good but the community always ruins them.

There are modern FPS games and then there are good modern FSP game.

The Mechs have me a bit interested, as well as some of the ideas going with it. But it's COD, I'm pretty sure we all don't need to be Mon Cal, wearing a white outfit and have the title of Admiral to see through this. The last Call of Duty I bought was COD2, and COD 1 was beyond worth it. But after those two the game series just became terrible in my opinion. It's kind of like a sinking ship that they pulled out of the water and cleaned. I don't care if you polished it and everything, you're just going to hit another ice burg again.
