Finding version 1.7.1 kinda disappointing
I just died, that was probably my longest lived character, around 4-5 days I think. Zombies are TOO powerful now

Its an effort to promote teamwork, but unfortunatley, I find that there really is no end to PK'ers. but now that you spawn with no weapons, will there still be incentive to shoot new spawned players with nothing but flashlights?

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
Met up with my team mate again (saved him). He wanted me to go to some camps he found to take the stuff, so I dumped my stuff in a tent and hoped on a bicycle. Ended up running over the tent and destroyed almost everything I had . Luckily, I found a vehicle camp on the way, ended up finding a coyote pack, some supplies, and uzi, and a m4a1 HWS with an M203 underslung with 6 clips.

How many body shots from that m4 does it take to kill a zombie and/or a player?

8:30 PM - Chernogorsk (us 18)
Its been a long 3 weeks. i can hardly recall the last time i was awake, I have apparently suffered a coma ... what has happened in the zone? it has been rumored that the bean wars have ended and a new dystopian anarchy has consumed Chernarus, but the real question remains:
What will I become?
I woke with my Rifle and a few spare supplies, enough to get me to my rendevous with Darren, whom was waiting near the church. after a heartfelt reunion me and D took off toward the Northwest City of Berezino.
we took a shortcut through the Cherno - Elektro Powerlines and continued our journey through the thick brush in a north-eastern heading. as always Darren and I made several stops in smaller villages to stock up on food. we also took this opportunity to practice our takedowns.
the takedown of a zombie we've found isnt too different from your standard cliche hollywood Zed. but we have seen some peculiar differnces. for instance, if you dispatch a Zed in one shot, it seems that the surrounding Zeds take little intrest and will continue shambling along.
This tactic proved useful for clearing out the crash site of a helicopter near the village of Staroye, just north east of cherno. A group of Military dressed Zeds proved little threat to some well placed makarov shots. Darren walked away wih a brand new m240 Saw with 400 rounds, and i walked away with the piece of mind that my compadre had "Enuff Dakka" to take down a Ruskie.
We also made quick friends with another survivor holed up in a barn, we saluted and parted ways. a good encounter means never having to fire your weapon.
We made our final stop in Berezino. an old apartment on the edge of the city, a perfect refuge from the storm.
for now we sleep, for tomorrow, we survive.

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
Ouch, sounds like this mod is pretty fun but why would they make it for something which is notoriously a bad game? seems like propping arma up...

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
Its not so much that its bad, its just not very optimized, and has a steep learning curve because of the millions of little key bindings there are... Either way, Arma 3 should have some excellent funding now (DayZ will work on A3 on release as well)

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
Nice, I may pick it up then .. then seems like alot of fun and that killing a zombie is as serious an event as it should be (lots of noise = baaad) Are melee weapons avaliable/effective or are they a fools choice?

There are now! Crowbars and Hachets, good for quietly gwtting rid of zombies (if you can sneak up on them), good in a pinch when you are otherwise unarmed, but absolutley awful in a combat situation with other people

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
Im playing tonight! gonna see whats up at the air strip near Berezino
EDIT: Oh, and ive been reading up on the crowbar/hatchet gameplay, you get a nice swing distance, so as long as you can keep the zeds at bay your a melee machine, not to mention a deadly CQC weapon for those "Surprise!" moments when bumping into your fellow survivor.

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
Stary Sobor, Chernarus
9:45 AM
It been several days since darren and I cooped up in an old rusted barn. the night before we had planned to make our way to the airfield just north of the city after a quick glass of the area. But, when i woke, i found my partner dead hunched over the railing of the upstairs banister. the sound of a thousand buzzing flies hovered by his corpse, his death happened not too long ago so i sat in wait for his murderer to show himself.
I waited and waited but never got to exact vengeance on the assassin for his heinous crimes. so i pressed on, never looking back. "such is life in the zone" i keep telling myself, but the words have since lost their meaning... too many good men lost at the hands of the only "humans" still left alive in this cold and lonely world.
I gripped my freshly aquired AK-74 kobra tightly to my chest. I've taken to calling her "Ivanka", a fitting name for such a beautiful gun, but i digress.
I hit up the military tents and stocked up on 8 magazines of ammo for Ivanka and 5 for my 1911, carefully scanning the hillside and rooftops for signs of survivors, luckily it seemed i was the only one there (is it odd i find this solitude relieving??)
next stop on my way out of town was the supermarket, i packed my bag with cans of food and soda and found a nifty compass. very usefull! i also saw a revolver, but decided against swapping it out for my pistol, more ammo > powerful gun.
After a quick sprint from the local zeds, i reached the edge of the city and headed east for the city of berezino, i wasnt going to risk my life to see the airfield today at least not without my back up.
I didnt make it far before my weariness began to set in. Tired, Cold, Hungry, and alone, I sought refuge in the Novy Sobor church.
I curled up on a pew and fell soundly asleep.
ITINERARY:
- Ivanka (the merciless) (6 1/2 mags)
- M 1911 (5 mags)
- smoke grenade
- bandages
- water and soda
- several cans of food
- knife, compass, map, matches, hatchet, watch, wire kit
- steaks
- flares
- glow sticks
- 1 tin can

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
We still need to team up some time . Me and my two partners came back from raiding sever locations, and have set up a base of a few well hidden tents. I use a AKS-74 kobra and an m1911, one buy uses a bizon sd, dmr, and a m1911, the other uses a makarov and an m14 AIM. We also have a couple other guns in the base, such as an akm and an FN Fal.
Also, you know you can make m1911 rounds into .45 acp and vice versa right

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
I never thought you could but it makes sence! A 1911 is a 44/45 chambered gun, but you know, Rocket did think the winchester lever action was a shotgun

Re: Day Z: KomradDakkas Journal
I honestly didn't know about the winchester myself XD. You right click on the ammo to convert it (odd you get two extra bullets out of the conversion though ). You can also combine 4 2 bullet slugs/pellets of the double barreled shotgun to make an m1014 set, and vice versa.

BAH. I missed the 40% off on ARMA today. $17 was such an appealing price!
