I was just figuring the "land of the giants" was destroyed long ago by the demons, and Oolacile was destroyed long ago.... Who knows, maybe giants lived there?

there are a lot of references, some we are probably reaching for but thats the fun of it. the one that i see that hasnt been mentioned is its almost perfectly based off norse religion. the arch trees that the worlds built on, the two primordial serpents that must never meet or die, hydras, even the mushrooms are all norse.

According to my friend (I dont know crap about D&D so I can't validate this) most of the creatures in Demon's and Dark Souls minus a few bosses are based off of monsters in D&D.

the squids in latria are mind flayers.. i think and the other things show up in so many games,books etc that it really cannot be attributed to d&d alone

Anybody ever played the old Kings Field games?
From my (limited) understanding, there are several on running themes/names/concepts. Seath is supposed to be one.
Also, Jeremiah is a reference to the Old Monk who is a reference to an HP Lovecraft story (forget which) which is itself a reference to a story called The King in Yellow by Robert Chambers.

In a review of Dark Souls in Hyper magazine it is said that Dark Souls and Demon Souls will have very similar worlds but are in no way related to each other.

Here are some things I found. The crystal zombies in the Dukes Archives are the same zombies from valley of defilement but with crystals. The Hellkite Dragon is the Red Dragon from Boletaria. When you kill the toxic guys that shoot darts they sound the same as when you killed a Boletaria zombie. The skeletons in the catacombs are more easy to kill than the ones in the land of storms. I forgot the name lol.
