I've done this in the past with Death Cab music, which fits for the most part, since sad songs w/ a sad video game pretty much fits, but my computer screwed up recently, and I lost allll my music. (like 11gb of stuff). So I just killed Sif with my no-shield character while listening to this: https://youtu.be/T2RaehsIbkU
Sadly, I was using a normal ol' +10 halberd and my flames. Well, mostly my flames. I think it'd be epic if I played with a crystal sword while listening to this song. I'd sing along with it, swinging my "diamond sword."
Do you guys listen to Dark Souls with music? Or do you think it messes up the atmosphere of the game?
PS. I don't think I'd listen to music at all if I just started playing, but I started playing this game again about a month and a half ago with my friend, and he plays video games w/ music indefinitely. So, the atmosphere was ruined anyway.
When I pvp I am constantly listening to music - I never listen to the Dark souls music - for the bosses I either listen to Windmills or the DeS boss tracks or ofc Two Steps from Hell/Ludovico Einaudi. Or I just listen to beats and casually freestyle xD

Hahaha! I have a friend who does this. Except I remember when he first started, he was playing Halo 2 multiplayer, and he'd annoy his friends by singing the same line over and over again "I whipped out my **** and her mouth hit the floor, acting like she never seen a magnum before." This is from ***** by Hollywood Undead. He would say other lines from time to time, but he ACTUALLY freestyles. Pretty entertaining when he wants to be funny haha!

Ya. No way I would listen to music my first few playthroughs. And whenever I got to new content with a new character, I'd stop listening and soak it all in.
Haha - I will give you examples of a freestyle - I am generally good at freestyling but when people tell you to get better at it you are like :O WTF!? Its like a party trick - you cannot tell someone they need to get better at freestyles xD I also do metaphorical lines or puns a lot - eg; We all know that hip hop is starting to die - Im bringing it back, to the future like Marty McFly (He's the main character in Back to the Future xD )
Nahh bro - Jus' Saiyan this is better to listen to while playing DkS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPXWxPdQMSw&ob=av2n or: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X6sGu8oTiQ&feature=channel&list=UL

i listen to music sometimes when i pvp. if i dont i actually turn the volume down very low. the sound of elemental weapons and the other reoccurring sounds can really get to you after a while. i hate the lightning sound effect.
FROM really put a lot of effort in to the atmosphere of Dark Souls and I think they did an admirable job, so if i'm doing PvE I don't wanna mess it up with outside music. The music that comes on at particular cues is always fitting and engaging, really captures and enhances the mood set by the game.
I'm actually shocked you would listen to other music during the Sif fight! How could you! That fight as well as the Moonlight Butterfly fight are so perfect in their atmosphere! /Rant
Now if i'm just doing my Gravelord thing and fighting endless waves of SoVs and DWs or doing my forest guardian thing and constantly popping in on groups of farmers and gankers then i'll blast some tunes. Some Atreyu, Metallica or anything sufficiently Rock enough really fits PvP.
good man Exertionist - Offspring ftw - now obviously as I sometimes listen to rap you guys will notice that I have posted this - I rap & sing along to this sometimes - lets just say Im tone deaf :L https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX3nT5OUFpA I just enjoy the I want this ish forever man - and ofc I love Traphik & DFD - they just have so much... meh xD
Yeah, I ALWAYS listen to music while playing DkS, but I admit that I didn't do so in my first playthrough because I wanted to keep the dark atmosphere. But after beating the game more than 40 times I just play for fun.
Songs I listen while playing: Radiohead, Silent Comedy (Namco used 2 songs from them for DkS trailers), Arcade Fire, and sometimes Noel Gallagher's High Flying birds.
Here are some songs I recommend to listen while playing Dark Souls:
-I ain't no demon Lord.
------------------------------------------
I've searched in every corner of the Earth.
------------------------------------------
-Oh my god Please help me!
-He says: wash your hands, get out the stains but you best believe, boy, there's hell to pay! You're gonna sink or swim, No matter what you do you're gonna learn the truth!
This song reminds of Gwyn and his followers, and how they want YOU to follow them, or else...
------------------------------------------
I'm on Fire!
Perfect song for PvP (and pyromancers).
------------------------------------------
My body is a cage, but my mind holds the key.
These are songs I believe fit Dark Souls' atmosphere (except Fire), though I listen to others when I'm playing just for fun.

No music for me while playing. I like the darksouls atmosphere and I can't play music as it will wake up the rest of the house, since I am mostly playing at night.
That said, I do think of Darksouls whenever I hear the song "Jump into the Fog" by the Wombats. No other reason than the chorus of jumping into the fog.
Dude, I've fought Sif 3 times already. I get the mood XP hahahaha! Plus, I think it REALLY helps concentration because the mood FROM sets puts pressure on you. Makes you feel like you're there. If you're listening to, in my case, "I can swing my sword, sword!" over and over again, then you feel like an epic guy playing an epic character on an epic video game. And when you feel like a Boss, you are a mother flipping BOSS! In other words, I'm very psychologically driven. When I want to simply get by a boss I've already been by, I'll listen to music to help me feel less pressured.
I think that Dark Souls in game music is *****. I could sleep with this atmosphere music. So I have turned of in game music but listen to effects (I really like walking through grass) and listen to REAL MUSIC.
I also hate to wait when game is loading; Music does shorten / lighten up the waiting!
I started playing the game without music and began listen when I first started farming.
