    Build advice? Empty Build advice?

Post by Dubscythe Mon May 14, 2012 7:31 am

So I'm making a build where I used the Black Knight Greatsword because it's an incredibly fun weapon (imo), and this is the build I thought up so far: http://tinyurl.com/756yzd4

I'm unsure of where to allocate the rest of my levels, as I'm not sure how well BKGS scales with strength past 40 and it's Dex scaling is subpar. Should I split it between Vitality and Endurance? Level faith to 28 and get WotG?

Any opinions would be of great help.

EDIT: Maybe I could also try the Greatsword of Artorias? Use the extra points to get Int and Faith up. I know it scales better with those but my strength is already 40 XD

EDIT 2: Made a Greatsword of Artorias build http://tinyurl.com/6pr6vg7

Im gonna start off by saying do not use the artorias sword unless its for pve that thing is damn useless for pvp. As for your build if your planing on useing this build for just all around fun (like you said the black knight great sword is fun for you to use) i suggest putting the rest in dex so that you can also turn this build into something i like to call (and i just made up) an "experiment build" which is used for all diffrent styles of play so with your end vit str and dex at 40 you can experiment with pretty much every melee playstyle you can think of. but if you want to go into the magic side of things then throw your stats into int or faith however you see fit. but this is just my opinion silly

I've made a similar character. Are you going to 120?

Vit:50, End: 40, Str: 40, Dex: 18? (min to use all bk weapons), Att: 16 for pyro

If I were to redo it, i'd put more to END to be able to wear BK set along with extra BK weapons.

It is a fun build. FYI, make use the DragonSlayer bow but I think that requires 20Dex.

I like your build especiallly since you were able to keep your style along with maintaining 78 poise since it would be a shame if you couldnt use the R2 of the BLKgrt Sword cause you were stunned.

Unlock when you use the R2 so that you dont have to worry BS.

Personally I think you should do a Black Knight cosplay! Just need enough endurance to medium roll with the full armor set on. Then again, that's just me

Great sword of artorias is flat out awful at SL120 dubscythe, just stay away from it until you hit the 160-180 mark.

Yeah I decided against the Greatsword of Artorias and decided to stick with my 40/40 build. I have finalized it and it's in my signature, but I'll post it here as well.

    It looks really original. silly

But sunlight straight sword, really? :| I'd totally throw in a different kind of weapon to mix it up, like a spear or Murakamo, something like that.

Well I already used my slab on it, and I figured it would be a solid weapon to use for my first time PvPing.

I originally wanted to use the Brass helm but it looked ugly with the Hard Leather Armor, which is my favorite top armor in the game <3

So? Just make another weapon that's +14 and have it. Seeing as your build has no magic you need something to vary your attack. I'd say have a long spear in your second offhand slot and the Murakamo in your 2nd right hand slot.

    Now that's a build.

That will have severely diminished defense in order to make up for the weight difference.

I'm new to this okay? I want something simple.

Well just incase you have a change of heart, this is what I'd do for maximum defence while having the utility:

http://tinyurl.com/889v4h9 ,you have less poise, but really 56 is enough for most situations, only thing you can't poise tank is ultra weapons.

Or for above 70 poise: http://tinyurl.com/84d552h

haha, okay then honestly though you'll see how useful it is having more than one way to attack. especially when your other option is a rather long pole silly

Better safe than sorry I guess. And the hot spot to PvP right now is Undead Burg yes? Any good place to farm souls in NG? Got about 40 levels to go.

It's difficult because you don't use magic.. maybe you should try cooping Gwyn and four kings? Those get regular summons at SL80

For proper farming spots, I'm not too sure to be honest.. you could do the kiln run over and over or just do some PvP now?

Also I don't know much about "trendy" PvP spots right now, I haven't played dark souls in like a month, getting on for 2 now (and you're on xbox, the community can be different over there)

I suppose I'll have to, and co-oping Gwyn is gonna be a pain XD.

I was thinking, since you said at 56 poise I'll be able to tank everything but Ultra weapons, what if I used the Red Treastone ring?

If you looked in the ring slots, to do what I proposed you had to wear havel's ring.. so not possible.

Also by tanking I mean 56 poise is when you can take 1 hit from a GS without getting stunlocked, a second with stun you. It's not invulnerability from stunlocking, it's just a sliding scale of how much 'poise damage' you can take before getting stunned.

Well yes I think so. You could perhaps put on ring of favour instead to give you more health and you could put on some more poise armour, would give you less overall poise but the extra health would be very useful.

Welp, putting a sign down in Kiln and hoping to get some Co-op bites. I think it might be a little too early to try though.
