honestly i would say most the gankers are noobs just trying to lvl up. its when you run into two matching giants+mof with stone greatswords ready to gank you at the spawn point, thats a troll.

There've been people playing like that for as long as there have been multiplayer games. They'll resort to the lowest of tactics, getting non-stop empty victories, griefing other players. It's sad to see it in Dark Souls, but no game is safe from these types of players. Mostly, it's true that they're just players with no skills. They can't get the satisfaction of winning a fair fight, so they replace it with the "satisfaction" of killing droves of fair fighters by resorting to cheap tactics.

There may be a few exceptions, like people who want to farm souls or skilled players who have a lapse in judgment, but generally they're just skill-less players looking for quick ways to win, knowing they'll either never be able to compete on a fair 1v1 basis or just not willing to improve their skills.

As a moderately skilled player, its so satisfying to run around those high poise stunlocking cowards who runs away to use the flask in a duel. It's a RSS summon sign, if you can't take the heat, don't summon me.

Hahhah very true. Unfortunately, I cannot survive a 3 vs. 1 for the life of me, even if they're noobs.

1v1, 2v1 are fine, but when its three, I always end up BSed.

I can't do the pivot BS to save my life... I think it's cheap, so I've never actively practiced it. Probably why I can't thin the heard before they close on me.

i can kill 3 players with ease if i have to but someimtes i kill the phantoms bow to the host and bc out

Blaine, I think really you're generalising too much, and expecting too much of the game's population. "Skilled players with a lapse in judgement"... You're implying it's not lawful to do so, or that it is somehow incorrect to do so.

Also, I've met guys who I've summoned for bosses who are skilled, but try and hang around to gank. It's just a fact that most obviously do it for fun and we just ridicule them for not playing how we want. Just like some prefer to have 1v1, they prefer to gank, it's not due to a lack of skill I am almost certain of it.

Just saying, there's noone here who actually ganks a lot, so frankly we pass judgement too quickly on these players by sitting on a rather high horse, it's the same as when I see people complain that they don't abide by unwritten rules, it's kinda nonsensical.

I'm providing a different perspective here, food for thought I hope.

^Nothing wrong with being the Devil's Advocate, it helps drive the discussion. But I wasn't saying that just about the Dark Souls community, but talking about the type of players who are attracted to that sort of play. Like I said they're present in every game, and their motivations are usually that they can't compete on an even ground, so they skew the odds in their favor to try and get some victories that way.

As for the phantoms you're talking about, who may or may not have skills sounds to me like they just lack empathy then. And a lack of empathy is one of the characteristics of a troll. They think it's funny to squash people who are looking for a fair 1v1 when they have 3 gankers on their side, so they fail to place themselves in the shoes of the one getting ganked. It's not funny when you're looking for a fair fight, and all you get are back-to-back groups of gankers. Even if you can beat them, it's not what you're looking for. Hey, I can backstab a group of 3 people all day, but I'd much, much rather be fighting the fair 1v1 I was looking for.

I actually have several friends (who I met playing both Demon's and Dark Souls
) and some of them Gank other players to get easy souls.

I once used party chat (we use it to be able to speak rather than text chat on PSN) and before I was finally able to be summoned with them they were up to 15mil souls from it. Yeah I know there are other ways to soul farm, and the BB glitch can help a ton with it too. But they literally was only in it for the souls, and at times would literally leave items near the spawn point for the invader. I wont be a hypocrite in saying I hated them doing it since I didn't mind the amount of souls I was getting while with them.

They were somewhat considerate in my eyes except one friend who liked dropping prism stones every time they killed an invader.

Ganking is boring idk why people dont make it fun like roleplay ganking for example a S&O team or a black and silver knight team why not have some1 dress up as the maiden and the phantom as her guard god people are so dull in this game the only reason that I gank in the forest was because this guy ran from me till another phantom came then tryed to bs fish
