Furysword... pros vs. cons
So assuming you don't mind having 10+ humanity constantly, what do you think of the furysword? Pros vs. Cons.

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
Pros:
Fire damage
Scales with humanity
Scales decently with Dex
Quick animation
Cons:
Upgraded using Demon Titanite
Cannot kick (I believe you do a forwards attack with a backwards spin)
More fire-resistant enemies in the game than lightning-resistant
Late-game its effectiveness tends to drop off compared to +15 and Lightning weapons
In the end it's a decent weapon, it's up to you to decide if you like it well enough to use it or not, and spend your materials upgrading it. Keep in mind that 10 Humanity is required to make the most of it, and that part of its damage is locked away if you do not have that 10 humanity.

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
its good, one of the better boss weapons imo
that and at least 75% of its damage is fire, not physical
other pros is if you like the curved sword (not katana) moveset, it has that, along with the longest reach of that class of swords
its also fast for attacking, lowish stam usage, overall pretty high dps
cons could be that, even though good, its not the HIGHEST damaging weapon (what'd you expect) along with its a "light" weapon, so it's poise buildup is rather low

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
Its great if you're using a build with low stats in str/dex. Makes a great weapon for vitality builds and casters. Definitely not the best option for maxing your damage output later in the game, but come one guys, the swords lights on fire when you strike and its probably the sickest looking weapon in the game

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
I use it a lot, so here's my experience with it.
- Moveset: Really quick as its a curved sword, even quicker when 2handed, which makes little sense. Range is rather long for its class, just slightly shorter than my Estoc (I tested it standing the same distance away from a pillar). Very wide sweep, covering more than 180 degrees in front of you, making it good to punish those going for a BS. Both R2s are rather useless though, so rely on its 2handed R1. You can swing and hit opponents using a claymore from a safe distance, giving you a small window thats within your rande but out of theirs.
- Damage: As said above, most of its damage comes from the flame, which scales with your humanity. That means the physical bit scales with your dex. Its not the strongest weapon in the game, but its rather good considering the moveset.
- Weight: very light for a weapon that size and range, even lighter for a boss weapon. That makes it very easy to equip.
- Stamina: Uses very little stamina to swing, and can break some poise. Not the best, but I have won some matches stunning opponents and crisping them with nothing but the R1.
- Cons: Unsatisfying if you want pure power or long range, as it gives a bit of both. No kicking either, so there's no other way to stun. And lots of armor have high fire resistance.
So all in all a good weapon if used properly, just don't expect it to do too much damage.

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
Last night I was messing with it a little more (it is my favorite looking weapon in the game, so I want it to do more damage, Soooo bad lol) I found out it had a roll+r1 attack that does this bada$$ spin move. I just had to see what you guys thought of it.

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
I agree JY4, the 2H R1 for curved swords is ridiculous, it's tempting me into making a +15 falchion/scimitar to buff next playthrough

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
apparently some people class falchion w/ buff the cheapest weapon in the game.
2 handing it makes it combo quicker and stun better than 1 handing it.
i made a darkmoon blade build with mine at like +10, got like80 ears of guilty people easily.
12 endurance+havels ring+flip ring= 3/4 giants + chest of thorns + falchion + shield = 50% equip burden.

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
I prefer Estoc. Longer range, better BS damage, and looks damn good on a knight. Don't really feel like buffing anymore though. I'm starting to feel the overpower, and I alsi feel the hate from the sore losers lol. The hate doesn't go away from those that die from a BS though

Re: Furysword... pros vs. cons
I thought about using it with my first build when I was still experimenting, figuring out how everything worked. The thing I didn't like about it was the long wind-up before each swing. If I were pvping someone who was using it that's most likely when they would take damage from me. So I decided against it. If I want a sword with that moveset I personally prefer the Gravelord Sword. It has longer reach, does substantial damage without having to worry about humanity, can cause poison, and I don't think the curved sword wind-up is quite as bad.

Seriously, the GL sword is way way way waaaaaay slower than the furysword. 2hand it, and you'll be hacking at them like they were raw meat and turning them to crispy bacon.

I don't use either. The build where I considered it is now using a maxed lightning claymore, which I feel buries them both. Regardless that's my reason for disliking it
