Like I said, I think that if I tried to go for the kind of thing Plagius would ACTUALLY do in the wars it would anger a lot of people if I just wrote it. Now, if I worked with whoever was writing the lore for the war that would be one thing, but having Plagius sneak off in the New Londo invasion to go steal Kaaths memories would just be a an evil act against the lore writer otherwise.

It would indeed, and while going off on personal power trips may be fun in the short term it makes it incredibly difficult to keep the covenants going and consistent with the lore. unless of course you agreed in advance a covenant was going to die if it lost a war (and come back stronger than ever but changed Ofc 
)
