Alright, you guys asked for it.
Base sauce is always just butter and hot sauce. More butter means less heat. for a good sized batch half a stick is "medium" heat. Probably about a cup of sauce. Just heat and stir and that's the basics. For authentic, the hot sauce has to be Frank's. Not super hot but the best flavor. Tabasco usually is not great. If you need more heat add a touch of vinegar. A few drops will work so be careful. If you still need more heat finely chop a habanero in. So now that the basics are out of the way.....
Lets add more flavor:
Garlic, basil and cinnamon all work great. Cook in to taste.
For a real treat, add something sweet. This is still for savory foods like chicken wings. Jelly (I use jam but you then need to fish out fruit pieces) is an easy way to amp up taste. Honey or maple syrup (or Cola syrup) add taste and tang but will require some boiling down. last but not least milk chocolate can win you some friends.
I only hold one ingredient secret so feel free to ask me anything about other things I have tried
