Dark Souls Kingdoms Empty Dark Souls Kingdoms

    Post by King-Of-Twilight Wed Jul 04, 2012 10:26 am

In Dark Souls lore, there are many kingdoms mentioned, such as Balder and Zena.

I wanted to know the names of every single one, and not just the human-controlled kingdoms like Thorolund and Carim. I'd like to know every single one mentioned, obscure or otherwise.

    My list so far:
Anor Londo (not sure if it counts)
    Astora
    Balder (Lost)
    Berenike
    Carim
    Catarina
    Far East
    Five-finger Delta
    Great Swamp
Izalith (Lost, not sure if it counts)
Lordran (not sure of it counts)
    Oolacile (Lost)
    Thorolund
    Vinheim
    Zena

That's all I got. I'm not sure if Lordran, Anor Londo and Izalith actually count, but if there are any that I've missed, assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Berenike was a dude, not a country.izalith and Lordran both count as they were once human controlled. Anor londo however doesnt.

Thank you. I'll edit my list accordingly.
I always wondered about Berenike, though...ah well.

Could one have actually traveled to Anor Londo? Via the fallen archway at the end of the bridge behind the Iron Golem up at Sen's? Before the archway ... uh... fell?

"Armor set of the Knights of Berenike, known for their heavy armaments and armor."
Countless Knights of Berenike, once extolled as the mighiest of mighty, became Undead and ventured to Lordran. But their journey was for naught, as they went Hollow, and became a threat to all Undead.

Berenike is a place. However, I understand what you mean by it being a person, as IIRC there is one description for a type of other armour/shield that screws the description of the people.

ANor londo is a city built upon a city, so once the golem gateway would have been the main entrance.

No. The Painted Wolrd was created to keep things that were a threat to the Gods contained, like the Dark Ember, and Priscilla. Technically, I think it's a part of Anor Londo.

Far east isn't a kingdom. We don't know the countries in the far east. And the five finger delta and the great swamp may be the same thing, although neither are kingdoms.

I think he;s using in kingdom to represent human ruledlands, not a literal kingdom. hence my apostraphies around kingdom earlier.

Though more than likely there are multiple Eastern Kingdoms, considering that Shiva seems to be against the East.

This was my point of saying that it isn't a kingdom. It's just a region as far as we know.

Yeah, I imagine if they had some sort of greater power as well we would have heard at least something about a powerful group to the east, rathern than them just describing woods.

I think, and this us based on the director's assertion he wanted more of a western theme, they "The East" is akin to Europe's age of exploration in Asia. The early stages in particular. It's either part of the known world (England, France, Spain, Italy), the ocean, or "the east." A region where some trade is developing but little concrete is known. Shiva himself seems like a bit of a mash up but primarily Indian in origin.

Interesting note, Balder might not be within Lordran. If you examine the silver coin it mentions currency being used outside of Lordran, for souls are the currency. So it would come to reason that Balder would use coins, sing as their King is on one. I guess the question comes about how long souls have been used in Lordran, so I guess since the undead outbreak. Then that might still put Balder in Lordran, since it did fall to an undead outbreak.

I never once thought that Balder was within Lordran. It's it's own kingdom.

There are a lot of people that do though, some consider the parish area to be Balder, which is something that there really isn't a whole lot of evidence against.

That's an interesting theory Tolvo. The undead parish probably wasn't always called that, and if it was Balder it certainly fell to the undead.
Also keep in mind that silver and gold coins are found in Anor Londo!
It's quite possible that all of Lordran used coins at somepoint. (Unless somethings states otherwise, idk)
