Loot the bodies! (Continuing on from Cloudy's post...) I'm sure there's a good sword on there. If there is, I equip it. If there's armor, I equip it (unless there's a weight stat that lowers my ability to dodge, in which case I don't equip it and keep my dodging optimal--I feel I may need it for the fight to come!). I heal up, and head through the fog gate.

Wait, I changed my mind! (I tried deleting post, but couldn't.) The gear stuff is still good, but don't heal up and don't go through the gate! Go back to the bonfire to heal up, since the enemies won't respawn. Then go back up and through the gate, so we have our flasks for the boss fight.

You discard the Bonfire Sword and equip a Longsword instead. The impressive blade feels powerful.
You equip a Helmet and a Waistcloth. The armor is too heavy, so you leave it there.
After a trip to the bonfire, You step through the fog gate. The demon of the Asylum is below a small awning you are now on.

Yeah, when we get to lordran, I'll be asking to increase whatever stat improves my chances of parrying! And also Dex--need to be able to use that bow.
