Discoveries?
After thinkng about pendant a question came to mind. Did someone discover everything we know about the game or was there a guide?

Re: Discoveries?
There is a guide but I'm not sure how much info was in it. Really most of the discoveries have been made through hard work.

Wait for the PC Edition; everything will be answered there.

Re: Discoveries?
The Future Press Guide was available upon the US release, with info on weapons, armor, enemies and locations. All other discoveries and finer details are from the contributions of a vast number of players, this also includes the changes made with each game patch. This why we have wikis, to have a common body of all the knowledge gathered in one place, instead of bits and pieces of information spread out over countless message boards.

Re: Discoveries?
There is still the dogged quest to find a use for the pendant, but I think that we are unlikely to see anything new, being that text dumps have already been processed and combed, and the info on the discs scruitinized by players.

Re: Discoveries?
what was the most recent major discovery? This intrests me and can't find anything about it on the web. I keep dreaming I discover something huge in The great Hollow. Probably just a dream but the hunch is strong enough to hit every wall and run across every branch.

Re: Discoveries?
One of the most recent discoveries I learned (from ZikoLogiKa) was that you can infect other players with an egghead if you are a member of the chaos covenant.
A wiki is not the place to give credit for discoveries and contributions, so you'll probably have to read message-boards to learn about who found what. Some discoveries are also pieced together by several players, since the one who found it is often clueless about how it happened, or how to trigger it. For example: One thing we still do not know is how to make Quelana appear without having a +10 pyromancy flame. Many have seen her, but they usually have no clue why or how.

Wait you can really infect other players with an egghead if you are a member of the chaos covenant?

Yes, and it seems the size of your egg head and maybe your rank in the covenent affect how easily you infect others.

Re: Discoveries?
I have noticed that your controller will vibrate when you are grabbed and infected by an egg carrier. I'm not sure if the vibration is always there, or if it just occurs when you are succesfully infected, but still worth to check if it happens during online infections.Federally wrote:Not entirely sure as all the details aren't ironed out, its hard to test.

Re: Discoveries?
Anyone else think it would be messed up to infect low level players with an egghead?

Re: Discoveries?
Only if they've opened up Blighttown. Infecting burg first timers is just cruel. Possibly game/character breaking.
Though, I still chuckled.

Not really, the egghead doesn't hurt you so bad. Now the fun would be infecting one of the HacelMcZweiFlippers wearing a family mask. Once they earn enough souls and the egg hatches it will break their head gear. Which would really make me laugh

Re: Discoveries?
Oh, come on Fed. Could you imagine playing dying on the first boss, then figuring out to get through the door, dying again 'cause you missed the plunge, then finally working your way to the burg, finally getting to the next bonfire, turn human, then get invaded. But instead of just simply dying, he does this weird maggot thing. Then, later on, you get enough souls to level, but, suddenly, they're gone, and you have an egghead.
... new character.

Egghead doesn't cripple you, its a legit game mechanic in a punishing difficult game. I say go for it as long as you're not decked out in BB'd gear.

Re: Discoveries?
It's breaking when you can't kick the spear users. And it seems to steal your souls and get bigger so you can't level up.
It makes a new, hard game even harder. probably making most new people either quit or make a new toon.
My 2 cents I guess. This game was harder for me than most when I first started.

Re: Discoveries?
It's no different then getting cursed, its just a hurdle to be climbed. Now I wanna go infect everyone I can in the Burg.

Re: Discoveries?
Ahh. But if you compare being cursed to being killed normally, you can compare eggheading someone to just simply killing them. IMO, it's "better" way to greif someone. As in, it's more of an a-hole move.Federally wrote:It's no different then getting cursed, its just a hurdle to be climbed. Now I wanna go infect everyone I can in the Burg.
In my opinion, I guess. I don't really enjoy having the odds stack up against me even more than they are. Everyone likes a certain difficulty, and DkS was enough for me when I first started, and I played offline. Someone eggheading me would have definitely ruined my experience, and I'd guess it's the same for most new DkS players.

Re: Discoveries?
Especially since the only cure is in the burg by the chaos servant covenant.
Imagine the average player whom it takes a month to make it that far.
No imagine him with an egghead.

Re: Discoveries?
Well, it's not the only way to cure it. Those lizards on the trees in the Moonpit area drop the Egg Vermifuge too. Of course I doubt they make it by the titanite Demon if they can't make it into Blighttown in a month lol.
But if you thinking being Cursed, or having an Egghead is bad.... Imagine them getting an Egghead, and then while they go through the Depths to make it to Blighttown the hard way. (Because they didn't choose Master Key or become a Thief.) They get Cursed by a Basilisk. Now they are getting half souls and only have half health, plus they're beginners and not dying with full health was hard enough.
Game Over lol.

Re: Discoveries?
Exactly.
PS: Before a mod comes in and asks you to shrink your sig, I'm gonna give you little heads up. Your sig is a bit big. I'm pretty sure my size is the max. Just a little heads up.
