is it safe to assume all of the larger weapons that need 50 str to wield are going to be super slow? cause i am using a speed build and it will kinda be pointless to pump str to equip a weapon that is too slow for my build would be counter productive.

Re: a quick question.
Yes they are all much slower (UGSs and Ultra hammers). They also stagger a bit when you whiff.

Re: a quick question.
Yea, I hate using those slow weapons.
Not really all that worth it, in my experience.
Maybe it's just because of my play style, but I've always felt anything above a greatsword is unnecessary.
But for a speed build, I certainly would go for something else.
A spear would be a good choice, I think.
I'm not really good with speed weapons, but I've heard the claws are nice.

Only fast strength weapon in my opinion, the Black Knight Great Axe, that thing is mad fast and great for breaking and staggering opponents. Only lost to BSers with that weapon.

Re: a quick question.
well... i dont really like to use slow weapons for pvp, the black knight great axe is one of the fastet heavy hiting weapons in DKS (just like you sad) i was just pointing out that it is really easy to parry, but i like the greatsword moveset.

Re: a quick question.
I love big str weapons for PvE, but PvP it's just too difficult to learn how to use when everyone just roll-bs's you. Eventually, I could get good, but the fights are so short, it's hard to see what I did wrong.
So I use the second slowest weapon-class, the Curved greatsword. Namely, the Server. Or, I did, until I got enough stats to have a big damage increase with a GS and SLB. Oh, and PW :3

Re: a quick question.
What is it called when you fight without locking on? Dead angle swings or attacks? The thrust from a Zwei is beast. Ive fought many that don't just spam the R1 but use it strategicly. So it wouldnt not be a good idea for you but it would be a know how to fight against one with quick dex weapons.

Re: a quick question.
I just built at character that uses the Dragon Great Ax. He's pretty beast and I've had some good luck with it in pvp. It is slow but if it hits, its pretty devastating. I'm playing a character that doesn't use a shield for blocking. If you want to use it for pvp I would suggest a lot of poise. The two handed special is real nice to keep people off you and the high poise allows you to pull it off without being staggered. If you're serious about pvp there are better options, but if you just like to keep the invaders off you, then I would recommend one.

Why not the Zweihander it requires less str?

I've never really used Zwei, but it has a different move set.Pratix wrote:Servant of Priscilla wrote:It gives hp back per hit and still is faster than zweiPratix wrote:JoeBroski09 wrote:

Most who use it just keep trying to smash you down into the ground constantly.
I'd imagine greatsword is a little more versatile.

I checked just a little while back, they're the same, but GS is heavier, and requires more strength.

Re: a quick question.
instead of it slamming down for a power attack it stabs. its like a bigger claymore, while zwei is like a bigger bastard sword.
