Quite honestly (and respectfully), I'm too lazy and impatient to read through all 28 pages of the first one, so I would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me if my idea below has already been said. Thanks!
Let's just get this part out of the way: I believe that one of the keys of this legendary third ending/easter egg lies within having the Pendant as a starting gift.
I read through the thread mentioned above and noticed a lot of people talking about the infamous and invincible Stone Dragon in Ash Lake. My original thought was to use the Dragonslayer Spear to kill the Stone Dragon at the bottom of the lake. More specifically, the dragon's arse. The weapon's description just seemed to fit:
Cross spear born from the Soul of Ornstein, a
Dragonslayer guarding Anor Londo cathedral.
Inflicts lightning damage; effective against
dragons. Two-handed thrust relies on cross
and buries spear deep within a dragon's hide,
and sends human foes flying.
However, someone already tried that to no resolution, and I see the logic in the whole "attack the Everlasting Dragon with LIGHTNING TOXIC FIRE in that order because that's what it says in the intro" thing, but I believe we are now thinking too hard about it. So it got me thinking more broadly about the various run-throughs people have been trying:
Max kindling on all bonfires
Extinguish all bonfires
Never lighting any bonfires, etc. etc.
These theories, too, never worked, so I came to the conclusion that we may need to think outside of the box (perhaps literally?) when finding the mystical third ending. We need to do something that I'm sure no one has tried yet. It could be right under our noses, but one of the most difficult tasks we would take on. Here me out:
Because FROM's hook-phrase with Dark Souls is PREPARE TO DIE, why not deny FROM of that power over us and do a NO DEATH RUN through the game and see what happens. I would do it, but I do not have the patience nor the skill for such a task. Careful planning must be done before hand, and most importantly, make sure you start with the Pendant. Maybe it'll vibrate or something. :affraid:
Then again, this might have already been done and could just be another dead end...
