Experimental builds: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Empty Experimental builds: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

    Post by Cantankerous_Flood Sun Jul 29, 2012 1:09 am

Okay so I got to thinking that if I'm going to experiment with making builds inspired by the four horsemen, I should make it an entirely separate thread from the 7 Deadly Sins. So here is where we can put our heads together and post our ideas and builds.

I encourage everyone to post their builds here as well. Since the horsemen are and can be interpreted in a variety of ways, all the more reason for more builds to be posted. Also feel free to post ideas for or your own lore for the horsemen if you'd like. I will post mine in the future.

I simply just took my post from my first experimental build thread and posted it below. You can view the feed in its entirety here: https://soulswiki.forumotion.com/t7994-experimental-builds-seven-deadly-sins.

I'm going to start things off with my favorite, PESTILENCE, and below, you can read my moat recent train of thought below as well. Here is some interesting qualities of WAR and DEATH that my friend, Ziko researched and hopefully keep going:

    ZikoLogiKa NL wrote:------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

will edit this post with general build ideas , mainly about suggested appearances

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The white horse is where it gets tricky , so we'll start with War silly

    -WAR-

The rider of the second horse is often taken to represent War or mass slaughter.
    His horse's color is red.
In some translations, the color is specifically a "fiery" red.
This color, as well as the rider's possession of a great sword,
suggests blood that is to be spilled.

    http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=3563878504894799

    -DEATH-

The fourth and final horseman is named Death.
Of all the riders, he is the only one to whom the text
itself explicitly gives a name. Unlike the other three,
he is not described carrying a weapon or other object,
However, illustrations commonly depict him carrying a scythe ,sword, or other implement.
The color of Death's horse is often translated as "pale", though "ashen''.

    http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=1790920745414738

Pale white skin with green tint , perhaps occult weaponary and high unholy ''faith'' twisted

    -FAMINE-

According to some others that posted on the Sins thread, the horsemen also have positive or more heavenly connotations, and that research will also be posted here. Thank you and happy posting! Joy

    I can see pestilence now.
TWoP, toxic and poison mist with the gravelord sword and poison knives+ dung pies.

These were perfect suggestions for PESTILENCE. I was thinking it could also utilize acid surge too. Perhaps using weapon with high bleeding damage like a katana as a secondary weapon? Anything to add status changes and overwhelm the opponent. I was also thinking of giving it the bonewheel shield but I'm not too familiar with using it in combat. However, I am at a dead end when it comes to armor that is a good balance of protection, mobility and showing that this toon really is one of the 4 horsemen, PESTILENCE. The round table is now open once again to your suggestions. Thanks!

All I have to say is that there is a storm coming to Lordran...

    Why are they level 4?
Also, Conquest should have the Great Lord Crown and some type of bow.

"I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come and see!" I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

They're level 4 because I believe he was brainstorming basically what weapons they could use and what they would look like and nothing more. I definitely like where they are going. FAMINE is going to be the toughest of the 4 I believe. That Bible quote is perfect by the way.

Rough draft of my version of PESTILENCE. big grin I'm not sure if I'm going to keep TWOP as it is carrying a talisman JUST for that spell. I could use that spot for a shield and use the faith points in Vit. I still am not sure what to use for a shield, rings and armor. Perhaps I could equip a ring that would grant extra attunement slots so I could use the SLs toward something else. Poison arrows of course. I'm not super familiar with all of the bows so BBoF seemed like a good choice considering it scales S with Dex, but I'm leaning toward the composite bow for strength. Obviously its key items are going to be dung pies and poison knives. Heheheh twisted

Alright... I guess sarcasm and humor aren't quite working today. Haha no worries. silly

In other news, I have made a quick draft of DEATH seeing as though it would be the easiest of the horsemen to do. I would love some feedback folks. Thanks so much! Proper Bow

Oh btown is lovely, lots of chosen one flesh to feed on. It's buggy all year round, but the fish are always biting when the bugs are out, so I can do some fly fishing while waiting for people to kill.

Funny how you should say that my friend. I was just going to announce that I will be posting everything have made including all the up to date drafts of the 7 sins and the horsemen in the covenant section of the forum. I will be searching for comrades on both the PSN and XBLA and I would be glad to ride with you sir (or ma'am). Take your pick. Make your own tweaks, keep them as is or come up with your own interpretation. All I ask is that you post on here or on the thread coming soon.

Here is a total recap of everything I've planned so far:

    Ascendants of the Apocalypse:
    DEATH http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=3765820265429821
    PESTILENCE/CONQUEST (needs work) http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2468489082448619

They are all under construction until the builds are actually completed ingame so as always, the suggestion box is open. I look forward to delving deeper into this with you, Mildred.

Just a small idea about death. I think a swap of the shield for the skull lantern would look great, give it more of a death feel and as the scythe works better 2handed won't effect the effectiveness too much, but would look so cool with a skull on its hip.... Just an idea.

Ps. Just thought I would say me and the hubby love breaking bad, just finished watching season 4(got all 4 seasons on dvd)

Nice touch, ma'am. Thanks for confirming that Haha silly .

That would be terrific for aesthetic purposes and ill see if I can move some stuff around, but i'm really just trying to keep the builds as battle efficient as possible. In my humble opinion, the skull lantern seems a bit useless in battle. If only the light could be used to temporarily blind the opponent, I'd be all over that. I'll see what I can do. big grin

Breaking Bad is by far the best show on tv and im not just saying that because I heard it on ads on AMC. Got all 4 seasons on dvd myself and im 2 episodes into season 5. Kind of sad this is the final season and double sad that'd its split. But I guess its like having two short seasons rather than it ending this summer.[quote]

Also, I have a few other ideas.

I think death should have the ring of fog to make him pale.

I think conquest should have the dragonslayer great bow.

I think Famine should have ring of the evil eye and the server, so it's like you're stealing their health.

Its hard to create something that is starving or starving others.

Famine starved the poor peasents, but left the nobility alone... at first.

This build is dressed in ragggedy clothes and runing around "stealing" other players' health. Also it makes them move slowly like they are weakened.
