    Priscilla's dagger Empty Priscilla's dagger

Post by fujiphoenix Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:25 pm

I want to make a build around Priscilla's dagger and the lifehunt scythe. I just want to know is with 50 dex, will the S dex scaling on a +5 PD make it good regardless of its terrible reach? It builds up a lot of bleed per hit, and it hits really fast. Thoughts?

It doesn't build up bleed quickly. You would think it does, but at least in my experience its useless except as a bleed trigger switch in for really low damage weapons that cause bleed like claws.

If you can inflict the bleed, well, yes its worth it, but even with its fast attacks, its short reach makes it fairly weak for bleed. Its AR is terrible too. It only hits around 295 at 99/99 (which isn't much better than say, 10/50). It would be logical to use it as a back-up for the Lifehunt Scythe when your bleed gets too high, by itself, its just terrible. I would actually suggest, if possible, to use another bleed weapon with the Lifehunt Scythe. You don't want to inflict 30% if you could inflict 50%, but Priscilla's Dagger is so bad, its very hard to trigger that bleed. If you were fighting someone who couldn't fight back (which, I guess this example is kinda silly), it could work much better, but since they can block attacks, parry the spam that must be done to inflict the bleed, roll away and through the bleed, I would put Priscilla's Dagger near the bottom of PvP weapons, at any stats. Its technically stronger, in comparison to others, at base stats usable stats (is it 9/18?), because you would fight lower level players and you could still inflict the same amount of bleed, the damage will never be worth it alone, so wasting the levels to upgrade it just seems to be a waste of levels.

What do you mean by 99/99 and 10/50?

At 99 Strength and 99 Dexterity, maximum stats that the dagger cares about, it only has 295 AR, which is terrible, even for a faster weapon, because its range is so bad. It works well enough on tough bleed-able enemies in PvE, but you'll almost never get the bleed on players. At 10 Strength and 40 Dexterity, since it has low STR scaling and 40 is usually the highest players take STR/DEX to, its not much different, only 268, its S scaling isn't worth those extra levels. I even just noticed, its STR scaling is so low that I don't think it impacts damage at all.

Ok never mind, I just looked it up, and it only has DEX scaling, my mistake. But the idea is still there, even at highest stats that matter for it, 99 DEX, its AR is terrible.

Reminded me of this old build (that I have long since abandoned.)

You guessed it! I gave up on that build after spending 48 hours with the Forest Hunter Covenant.

Oh well, guess it'll just be a life hunt scythe build.

Bleed resist is much lower at low levels, try a build like this: http://tinyurl.com/8nb4t6x (thats my armor setup, so no stealing )

You'd honestly be better off with a normal dagger that's buffed/elemental.
It may not go with your theme, but it's a hell of a lot more viable for battle.

If you haven't taken your dex to 50 yet, don't. Stop at 40. Anything past that will give virtually no increase in actual damage (the AR increased pitifully after 40).

Are the 4 kings susceptible to bleed damage?
