Re: The Metalhead Thread
I've got a lot more, but I didn't want to make too long of a list for the thread. Tis the benefit of listening to metal since I was eight years old.

Re: The Metalhead Thread
I listen to mostly black metal, but hell, most all metal sounds amazing.
Naglfar,Woods of Desolation, Thurisaz, Borknagar, Therion, Sirenia, Tristania, Amorphis, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, November's Doom, old Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Summoning; just some of the bands I enjoy.
I've gotta say, Naglfar - The Dying Flame of Existence off of there new album Teras is probably one of my favorite black metal songs ever.

I'm not sure if you can count it, but maybe that's just my musical ignorance: Lamb of God - Walk with me in Hell is one of my favourite metal songs of all time. That guitar solo man, so radicaaal.

Highway Star - Deep Purple; Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin
To be honest, Metal isn't really my genre. I'm more of a Classic Rock/Gangsta Rap guy.

Probably one of the best black metal bands out there. Land of the Dead is just amazing.

Re: The Metalhead Thread
I'm more of a power metal guy myself. My favorite band is Sonata Arctica and I pretty much like every song they have. Some of the others I like are Ra-Do You Call My Name; Avenged Sevenfold-Beast and the Harlot, Almost Easy, Bat Country; Judas Priest-Painkiller (one of my favorite solos of all time). I also listen to some Dragonforce and some Dream Theater.

Amon Amarth and Dimmu Borgir are amazing. I like Dimmu's song Gateways.

Re: The Metalhead Thread
Almost all of the metal bands I listen too have female lead singers.......otherwise it tends to be to heavy for me, I prefer opratic, and power metal in that order.
Martyr of the Free World by Epica is probably my favorite but Scaretale by Nightwish is pretty close and Rhapsody of Fire is all awesome, though not all metal.

Might have been considered metal in the 70s, lol. Not a big fan though, for exactly the reason you mentioned, not really melodic.

I would suggest you check out a band named Avrigus they've got a great lead singer for their band.
