velka's rapier build.

going to test this out in pvp once i beat the game with this build.

im not going to sit behind my shield the entire fight, but i wanted to have enough stam to at least poke them after i take a hit.

I was undewhelmed bu Velkas rapier. Its frickin cool, but a lightning rapier does just as much damage, isn't destroyed by gmb, and requires no stat investment.

Especially if you're using this for duels, I'd drop chameleon for cmw and use an estoc.

40 Dex aren't worth it, you get 1~2 AR per stat.

it increases the cast time of soulspear

then again.. i get away with casting soulspear at 10 dex or something on a mlgs build.

yup.

i've also been testing soul spear out of chameleon. i wanted it to go a little bit faster for when their thumb goes from the roll button to the lock on.

i figured the 20+ damage on both the bow and the rapier would help with backstab and just general hits with the bow, as well as add a faster cast time out of the pot from chameleon.

idk if it's worth it tho, i don't even think this rapiers worth trying either.. thought i'd give it a shot seeing as some people on the forums liked it.

Mmmmm, in that case what Forum said or Ricard's Rapier + CMW. But .2 seconds isn't very worth the extra Dex. I had a 40 Dex / 50 Int build that seemed to be casting faster, but I really couldn't compare it to a lower Dex one. Pure Int seems fun though, and Velka's has very good roll R1s.

i didn't like ricards, i felt like i couldn't use it's r2 unless the opponent was asleep or didn't have a shield.

but yeah, i almost always use a lightning rapier or a +15 estoc. my xbox save files are plagued with them ahahah.

Well Velka's is weaker than all other rapiers. I like it because it's different and it gives me a challenge.

Also with ricard's theres a secret. If you parry someone and then use it's R2 you will do more damage then you would have with a regular riposte.

what about a light rapier/buffed estoc + hornet ring

cant u just toggle out of that and roll away?

My mage knight use Velka's with 44 Int and 16 Dex. At least for duels its very good, the roll attacks are fast and they tend to land on the opponent more than the roll attacks of the other rapiers. The damage is low though, but it's very fun to use.

ps are u guys 120 in painted world? i wanna come down there with my beat stick...

We are mostly SL 80.

The only sorcery spell vastly helped out by Dex is White Dragon Breath, which casts like 0.6 seconds faster.

Um... it's fun everywhere. It's far stronger then Crystal Sou Spear, and moves slow enough for some no-lockon leading hits.

haha its even better at sens fortress. i used to stand on those walkways with a ring of fog on so they couldn't lock me and a shield. when they'd start walking across id cast that and theyd either get blasted off or hit by guillotines.

that drop is total vertigo too, your camera follows you the whole way. classy stuff.
