Yeah the guy was one of those where he did not have a health bar above him and it would show no damage taken above him when my weapon hit him. So I two handed a flamberge and started swinging away. He used a BKGA, which I loved because I got 8 parries/riposte on him (yes I counted). So his strategy changed from mashing r1 to rolling around attempting to spam magic/miracles and he had every one in the book haha. So after eating around 25 backstabs and getting the flamberge bleed effect to trigger multiple times the kid finally crumpled and died. At the instant of death his hp flashed above his head, a whole 650k hp. ROFL. It is actually lucky for the community that despite having near unlimited health/spells/stamina these kids honestly have absolutely no skill (generally). This was on xbox needless to say. So have any of you run into someone who exploited the save edit method to obtain insane health/stamina? If you have, did you win the fight? What strategy did you use? Personally I find that if you use ANY weapon with a bleed effect these modders can be handled rather quickly. Curious to hear about your experiences.

+1 for Legendary Justice. I tip my hat to you good sir.
No I have not encountered a HP hacker at least, and if I did I feel that unless I have my barbed sword on me I may not edge through unless I can land every spell I have then maybe.

Awesome achievement man! I'm on PS3 and haven't encountered it (does it happen on there!?) but lifehunt seems like it'd be the bane of these clowns. Not to mention, hacking like that generally implies a lack of skill, so most of these people will likely do something dumb like BKGA, or +5 lightning zwiehander, or bandit's dagger and either charge in two handed with stunlock in mind, or spend the whole time fishing for backstabs, either that or spam spells like combustion... god I hate pathetic people, excuse me while I go lose the rest of my faith in humanity.

I'm sure no matter how skilled you are, you can't beat the guy described above with leather set and a shortsword.

Then, sure you can beat him! I have no doubt. But what I'm saying is: (imagine this story)
Hey friend want to play dark souls with me?
Sure! I will just create my character and we will meet at undead burg!
*Gets invaded by BB glitcher with infinite health/end who one shot him*
Screw this game.

Love this post almost as epic as the death of a file save modder.
At TS (thread starter) man that is a super awesome achievement. FROM should get you something for that. Its also very very good advice to use a bleed weapon.
I had a few encounters but have not been able to come out on top. I chain BS this guy like 3 times and I knew he was a modder but I was not able to bring him down. Its been a while since I see a modder tho.

There has got to be a way for FROM to release a patch that can somehow monitor peoples stats, and if any of them are at an unachievable number (like having 99999999 health and stamina)
then the patch could nerf those stats to a low number, not so low that it renders your character useless, but just enough to piss you off and have to redo a whole bunch of leveling. (or in there case actually obtain them the right way)

The way they handled people with early copies of the game by releasing auto-invading SL700+ Black Phantoms still makes me laugh.

if only the devs were still that active in handling the game's problems, they'd be the best devs ever...

So is this "modder" something I faced?
I am fairly noobish at the moment; I understand this, and take my butt-whoopings as they come. The guy had a health bar, and very thin looking armor. I swing at him he has no guard up, and you hear the noise that signifies you hit him....nuthin. I hit him a couple more times, and no numbers pop up, not even a "1".
This fight, needless to say, ended in my demise. Nothing too bad, but somewhat confusing.

Yeah, I ran into one too last night. Hit him with a couple CSSs, but didn't see any damage being delt, then got lagstabbed by his buddy the host.
A moment later I got a message from him. "Do you like my invincible friend? He's drenched in sin!" I replied to him that I'd thought he must have been a hacker and how I was for a moment a bit ticked off at the lagstabbing, which had to me looked more like he was trying to cut his buddy in half instead of me, but told him that his Praise the Sun gesture made it all better for me.
He replied back to me, "Yes, he was all about the confusion, see? He's uh... just, uh... Let's just say he is the sun!!"
T'was all fun. Being the forest, I can see it happening. After all, all you need to take down even them is one well placed kick...

When you encounter these people you should equip 2 bone wheels and full thorn armor. Now just roll away.

Screw this game.
(Please note prior to this statement, that I do not support hacking the game in any way, shape or form. I'm simply playing devil's advocate here.)
In all fairness here, if this was your first time playing the game, or even your first few days, you would lose to someone who had been playing since launch anyway. There were people doing SL1 runs of the game before any of the glitches so they could invade new players in the burg with max gear, so that didn't change either.
If you would stop playing this game due to a single death for any reason, then you shouldn't play it anyway.

This is not a hacker, what this is is the way the game registers its lag. These are called "phantom hits," The game registers both ends of combat, but with about a .5 second delay , it's all about where your opponent is on his screen, not on yours.
It sounds crazy at first, but after playing enough you'll learn to understand it, and it will become second nature to you. It's kind of like how in a shooter you may want to shoot in front of someone a bit to hit them. Sadly all on-line games suffer from this to some degree.

In the days before BB glitching, low level griefing was somewhat uncommon. To be a low level griefer pre-glitch, you needed to have the skills to do a low level run; you needed to invest time in creating a fully geared griefer; and you needed the desire to invade beginners even though you probably have the skills to fight in normal pvp and the souls to level up.
Nowadays, you only need a single maxed-out character that you can bb glitch, or you can just find a BB mule. In other words, the incentive structure has drastically changed. As a result, you can't be in the burg or the parish as a human for more than 30 seconds these days before some moron in a mask and heavy armor wails away at you with a lightning claymore. This doesn't result in merely one or two deaths. It results in a death every time someone new to the game becomes human. We've had examples in this forum of people giving up on online play altogether before they even got to Sen's Fortress due to all the low-level ganking. It's sad, and it's also a waste of everyone's time.
Even a veteran like myself doesn't bother staying human in low levels. During my first two playthroughs, I was human 100% of the time, and I got invaded by all sorts of characters with low-level gear (they probably used the cracked orbs from Firelink). It was a lot of fun. It's too bad that people can't experience that anymore.
