Yesuurd auto lock for what? PvE, PvP? Bosses, general mobs...
would help if you're more specific as i think most will use it in some way

One on one I use it quite a bit in both pve and pvp.
Mobs I almost never use it, and depending on the boss it is about 50/50.

I use it on most mobs except ones it's useless for like giants..
Bosses depends again, i use auto lock on bosses if i range but when close up i generally find it easier to not lock on to allow for running in getting some hits and dodging out again.
PvP i use it quite a lot, but i do unlock at certain times.

I use auto lock on everything, die about 50 percent of the time, maybe if I used it 50% of the time, I wouldn't die at all. All joking aside, first playthrough I used it non stop, until I encountered the Stray Demon. Died 40+ Times (always got back my body though). Decided to try it without stun lock, beat him first try.

I'm a spellcaster, so I can't open a treasure chest without locking onto it first.

I used lock on on stray demon but only when I got behind him to successfully avoid his fire magic. His *** is a good cover.

I use it relatively often in both pvp and pve. It's helpful against most regular enemies, but terrible against most bosses, particularly iron golem (locking is a death wish), stray demon, demon firesage, centipede, gargoyles (particularly if you want the tail), and seath (same thing). In pvp, it's best to switch on and off depending on what you're doing. Turn it off for most spells/pyros, dead angling, running, and certain backstabbing techniques. Turn it on for parrying, narrow hit box attacks, and for counter-backstabbing.

left it simple so everyone could explain in which cases, I use it all the time and yesterday
was testing playing without it on to see how it went.

If you could strafe w/out auto lock I would use that, since you can't I pretty much rely on it.
