I highly suggest you go medium roll. Fat roll is useless for PvP in my opinion.

This build utilizes the most common equipment for gankers, making it look like I'm a ganker. This is why I used "Ganker" because of the similarities. In truth, of course, ganker is a term for the user not the build.

I've seen gankers who don't use the masks and just stack defense and poise for the poise BS. Personally, due to the "thing" happening them in the coming patch, I won't use them. Besides, they look ugly. Oh, and you forgot DWGR. That should have been the main concern.

Wyrm@: Actually, I did a lot of matches under fat roll and it isn't useless in the most important situations. It can dodge Homing Soulmasses and CSS IF you know your timing. The shield selection is also key; Crest shield VS magic, Black Knight Shield VS pyromancy. Besides, if you know how to play aggressively and parry, the only person who is going to dodge is your opponent.

Well if you gonna fat roll, consider +106 poise then. You can tank 2 hits of claymore and 3 hits of a spear.

Yeah you just try to dodge a tempest. I wouldn't even have to dodge, just start a cast and watch you die trying to block it so it does counter damage when it breaks your guard.

Never mind that anyone with a demon spear will laugh at you.

I'd go midroll and menu swap to your spare gear.

i kind of like the idea of these builds tho.

i think im going to make one-- not a fat roller, but a med roller for those ffa's.

I've used a fat roll extensively, and although it is far from being strong, I have found that using some sort of ranged weapon is necessary; I go with Poison Knives, Dung Pie, and Heavy Crossbow, with a Greatsword (of the Ultra variety) for up close. WIthout a ranged weapon, you have no option to push the fight. A heavy crossbow can cancel a fast rolling caster with little poise.

Props to you PVPing a fat roll. Must take a lot of practice.

Tempest? Walk backwards with shield raised or BKGA their face if they do it too close. Demon Spear? THAT is a threat

The good thing about Knives and Pie is that anyone can use them. As much as I would like a ranged weapon, I feel that having a speed and a power weapon can be very helpful up-close, where most of the combat will take place.

Lots of adapting. You can't rely on rolling anymore and instead have to focus a lot on positioning, stamina management and you have to learn how to deal with many things dodging usually solved; means you need to learn to know a LOT of alternative ways to deal with stuff.

Your call on not having a ranged weapon. But ranged chip damage will eat away at you. Depends on how patient they are; if they are, there's not a lot you can do about it.

Now comes with deadly DSS

*: And by improvement means just 1 weapon change... but face it, that DSS is practically full-scaled and deals a lethal punch...or stab.

Also, with DSS; Dash + Guard&Spear is a great pressuring tool for bow users.

I've cooked a lot of people who tried both of those things to stop a tempest, doesn't seem like a good idea. poise is easy to come by and I rarely have getting people stuck in corners with a twmpest cast.

It might just be my experience, but I can't see someone escaping a fire tempest with a fat roll unless the caster is really bad with it.

If you can do it, more power to you I guess.

I too have used the FT and have cooked many opponents. The key to dodging with Fat Roll is simply to unlock a dash the other way. Unless you're really close, then you BS. There are certain elements of luck involved of course, like where the pillar spawns.
