Bloodshield is enough, ring slots are too valuable + there's always red moss.

That's the only thing i dislike about the lifehunt. If it had the same range as the great scythe then i would use it a lot (even though i would have to use the bloodbite ring).

Aye, the range takes away a bit of the LHS' bite. I've stomped a lot of duelist in the burg because they couldn't get me into there hit range.

It's harder to use than the Great Scythe, but the GS is almost unfair with its range, the user controls the fight the whole time. The LHS can be tough to use, but I have a lot of fun with it, it's still one of my favorite weapons. The bloodshield should be enough though, and like Wyrm said, I keep moss ready in case I'm facing someone with a bleed weapon.
