Most damaging thrust weapon? (In Phys damage, both DLC included)

Just to know, I'm thinking of doing a turtle build, and I wanted to use the best thrusting weapon along with Leo Ring (besides Havel Shield).

The Lucerne, perhaps? At 40 str and 40 dex it does 521 AR. Can't turtle with it though.

Yeah I was thinking of that, but I don't like very much halberds. It's one of the options though. It doesn't matter if I can turtle with it, but it would help.

Dragon Slayer Spear is pretty good to turtle with. Gives you basic thrust and spear qualities and a special ranged attack.

Phys damage only. Leo Ring doesn't boost non-phys damage.

Maxed DSS does 336 Physical Damage
Maxed SKS does 377 Physical Damage
Maxed Pike does 399 (Rounded to 400) Physical Damage
Maxed Estoc does 348 Physical Damage

If you want straight up damage I'd go with the Estoc. Spears will give you more range but if I'm not mistaken the Estoc still has a higher damage output even with its lower AR.

Using the Greatsword's 2hr2 is technically the most damaging thrust attack in the game but it's hard to pull off. The Halberd'd the best in my opinion.

Why is it that the BSS is seen as one of the more powerful weapons? I've been using it and thus far found it to be a bit lack luster, am I missing something?

It seems to swing faster than the other SS, the poke also has abnormally high damage and you can do it more than once in a row.

I didn't understand the BSS at first either. The thing that makes it so great is the R2. It deals a TON of damage, can be repeated with a second press and it has some AWESOME range. With the Leo Ring, it makes a lethal weapon.

I love the BSS, but have been making friends with the greatsword lately. The 2hd R2 is indeed brutally powerful and does get the leo bonus. It's actually not as hard to land as I thought, given its crazy range, fairly wide hitbox, and the ease with which it can be used without lockon (in fact the whole moveset tends to be better without lockon). But the timing of getting the counter bonus to trigger the ring is much trickier with the longer windup; you almost have to do prediction stabs to make sure you get the R2 thrust off while they are in mid swing, so high poise is needed since they may well hit you in the mean time. The BSS is faster and you can counterstab with the leo on much more safely.

the bss reminds me of the penetrating sword from demons souls... it got a larger than usual boost to its r2 thrust move and had really long range for a straight sword... now i have to make a penetrator build....

The one I left in Seignar's quote, is the one I use. It has a long range and you can do a dash/charging attack with it. But the strong attack is very slow, compared to the regular attack.
