I'm usuing a faith based character with a divine halberd rated for 510 damage. Against bosses it's barely doing more damage than my light crossbow. Soooo, I was wondering if anyone had any information pertaining to this subject.

Someone made a Post about this a while ago. The Bosses has NORMAL Magic def which means you're probably not hitting hard enough.
Remeber. A Divine Halberd means that is has to go trough TWO Defenes. So the Halberd might do 50% of the Damage while the magic does the other 50%
If it diden't went trough TWO defenses it would look like this:
-Halberd = 100% Damage + 100% MAGIC Damage.
(Hope that explained something...I suck at explaining )

use an occult gearsword + power within. You'll destroy. I used an Abyss GS and destroyed everything

I used a moonlight gs+5 with 50 int on NG+ It seemed like even for ng+ i was doing very little damage. Against manus, a two hand r1 did no more than 120 damage. I had a really hard time with him >_<

I knew about the defence split between magic and physical, but I've never encountered anything even close to resembling the lack of damage im getting against these bosses. Granted I came in at lvl 50 wanting a challenge, but I was still doing great damage against everyone else besids the bosses. Well having nothing to base the new enemies off I suppose I may just be at a lower level than one should be; however, I never had a problem with any of the areas/ regular enemies. Maybe I should level up.
Also thanks for your information about the moonlight damage. Another possiblilty is that the bosses are meant to be played with another player.

I just finished off Artorias for the first time. Adding a fire buff did almost nothing, but a lightning resin increased my damage alot.
Same as you, I am cruising through the new areas (except royal wood, I ran through most of that) at level 50, but the bosses have required summons. I'm using a +14 halberd and my hits are taking off insignificant fractions of health from the first boss and Artorias. Even with help it took a good 10-15 minutes to bring them down.
My guess is that they are leveled to be hard for jolly cooperators..

I think there's a lot of truth to this. All three bosses (plus the dragon) seem to be much more doable in coop, than alone. For me it comes down to the speed and ferocity of their attacks, plus the staggering amount of aggro. If you're alone, as a single target, they're going to bend you over and make yous squeal like a pig.

Haven't fought Manus yet but does it looks like he does have ridiculous magic defenses. As for the ones I have fought (Sanctuary Guardian, Artorias) I haven't noticed any increased magic defense from those 2.

Im going to say the bosses are designed for cooperation then. I was thinking to myself, The Dark Souls main game had to have bosses that weren't too difficult for one player because it is possible that one could play without an internet connection just on disc. The DLC can't be held to these standards because one has to have an internet connection to download it. Therefore if the have a connection they can get help.
I wish you could summon some in game nps like Chester or Cirian though if no one is around. Where do people usually place signs for Kalameet? I need some help with that dragon beast/ his tail.

I got the tail by baiting Kalameet into that move where he raises his head up and flys into you like a flying spear in a straight line, after he does this you stay far enough away down parallel to his back and his tail should "slap" the ground and stays there for a few seconds. I eventually got it using this method without help.

I donno if its magic resist or they are just tanks in general, but my occult BSS which does around 300-400 for an r2 attack against most mobs and non DLC bosses was hitting artorias for like 100-120. Same with kalameet. I used a BKS against him and had a much easier time even with my faith based char.
In my educated opinion, I would say yes. It felt like fighting a crystal golem pretty much.

I would say they most Definately do , especially Manus. He laughs at magic and then pounds you into the ground. I went in with 2 different magic weapons , both were hitting him for around 100-150. I switched to my Great Lord GS and then I was doing very close to 400 a swing. Even sorcery is much weaker against him. Homing Crystal Soulmass was doing very little to him , Crystal Soul Spear did ok but with only 4 , left him with a lot of HP left. Sunlight Spear seems to be a little more effective , but again , you will need more than 5. All this was with max applicable magic stats and gear.

Yup, I am pretty sure that the DLC bosses have huge magic defenses, though the Crystal spells do significantly more damage. Soul Spear is just pathetic against any of them.
I thought divine would do more damage but it appears not.
Physical is the way to go with those guys, though you won't get far if you don't know how to dodge them or if you don't have a good shield. I always laugh with sadness when I notice that my summoner is using a sucky shield like the Sanctus
Another thing I've noticed is that the DLC doesn't seem to be designed for most Dex weapons. One of my characters uses the BK GS and whenever a guy wielding a katana summons me, I always end up doing most of the work
