It's basically right on top of me right now. Wind is starting to pick up, oddly the rainfall has diminished. But it's getting quite cold and fairly rapidly. Thing is, because of it being stuck, it's gonna linger here for a bit.

Re: Hurricane Sandy
Even some of the mid-east is getting bad weather. I live in Ohio and we've been getting high winds and a little bit of rain all day today. Mind you the wind is only like 20mph, but that's pretty high for Ohio. It was also about 40 degrees all day today which I did not particularly enjoy :|

I don't always go to the beach during hurricane season.
But when I do, I get wet sandy balls.

What kind of natural disasters does Kentucky usually have to contend with?

Re: Hurricane Sandy
I live in Northern Kentucky so mostly just high wind and lots of possible tornadic activity. We usually just get real bad thunderstorms in the spring and summer.

It is crazy the scope. Something like 1000 mile diameter if I'm not mistaken. The picture from space was epic.

There are times when i'm actually happy i live in Sweden. Hope it gets better, or well, not worse, but stays the way it is, depending on what you prefer.

Re: Hurricane Sandy
Yeah we ended up hardly getting hit at all and I got a day and a half off from school. It's kind of ironic but hurricane sandy ended up actually being pretty great for me. Sad that people died, but it's hard to not take free days off without smiling at least a little

Re: Hurricane Sandy
It was kinda bad, downtown Manhattan doesn't have electric at the moment. A lot of uprooted trees but nothing major here but some houses got ruined and a fire broke out and burned down hundreds of houses which thankfully were evacuated.

One of the good things with living in scandinavia (even if Finland technically isn't a part of it). We have next to no natural disasters.

Re: Hurricane Sandy
I live in America. More specific, North Carolina. And we get all kinds of stuff. Snow, rain, thunderstorms, tornados, hurricanes, hail, you name it, we get it.
And for the none weather realated stuff, we get earthquakes and tsunamis; but the is very rare that that happens.

Re: Hurricane Sandy
We also have snow, rain and hail (but hail is very rare). But none of those are severe enough to be called natural disasters

Do you live in the coastal plains, pedimont, or the mountain area of NC?
I live about 1 hour away from Reliegh.

Re: Hurricane Sandy
The west coast rains of Washington seem paltry compared to Sandy.
