Why don't the Forest Hunters wait for help when invading?

I've read all the stories about people getting ganked in the Forest. I was just curious, why is it people don't just run, hide, or wait until a second invader joins the fray to even things up?

if the host has 2 phantoms that means only 1 can invade, so you are by your self. if the host only has 1 phantom then sure you can wait for 1 more.

It also feels good when your able to beat both the host and the ganker. There is a certain satisfaction to doing it, like when you have finally beat a boss you've been working on.
I would assume though, if someone is tired of being ganked that they would run and hide and wait for someone else to invade too. Unless if there are already 3 phantoms there like what glute said, then you're all by yourself.

Hmmm, someone should fix this in the wiki. It says that you can have 3 vs 2, which is what prompted my question.

The host can only summon one phantom when they're in the forest and not part of the forest hunters.

It's too bad that the game developers hadn't build in some sort of matching criteria where anyone summoned into a world where there was already a coop helper with the host would automatically draw a second FH in with you. The host could still summon a third person (if this is actually possible). Think of the mayhem in a 3 vs 2!

2 summons, 2 invaders. That's always been the limitation I've seen in the forest. I'm not sure if the DLC changed something though.

Wait, just so I'm clear...if you aren't a member of the covenant, you can only summon one person; but if you are a member, you wouldn't get invaded anyway, so the only reason to do this would be to fight Sif (unless some Darkwraiths invaded, right?)...

I don't think it has I've never been in a 3v1 in the forest and still haven't. I was just assuming I've been lucky enough not to be in that situation.

It isn't as common but it does happen, I've gotten quite used to facing 3v1 when invading. Though facing a 3v2 is always preferred.

You can get invaded in the forest even if you are a forest hunter yourself. That's how all the pro gankers do. They have 2 phantoms and don't have to worry about the npc's. Oh how it makes me smile when I trick them to hit one of those npc's.Back Lot Basher wrote:OmniBot wrote:The host can only summon one phantom when they're in the forest and not part of the forest hunters.

Another tactic they use is to summon two Red's, so that they don't have to worry about even the Trees. The two phantoms can just go out and gang up on the invader.

If I invade I go after the phantom hit em a bit then run while the host heals then I do this till they'd out of estus. then I kill the phantom if it strays finally I attack the host till its almost dead then back of so he can use his humanity up I don't care for souls I break their spirit till they have nothing then I offer them a deal to trade for more if they haven't been biitchin

As I said, the limit is two summons two invaders. Summons can be whatever.
Gravelording of course makes it 3 invaders, and no summons.
Dragon is one summon of course.

Wow, I had no idea that you could be a member of the FH, but still get invaded by FH members when in the forest. Doesn't this kind of run counter to the idea of brotherhood within a covenant? Or ar you talking about being invaded by Darkwraiths, etc?

At level 280, I can't count on backup. So I always go in swinging with my SLB Mura or DSS if against gankers.

The other day I was fighting a host+his 2 phantoms and about 3 sec. after I came in another Hunter also came in. So I guess 3 v 2 is possible.

Forest hunters can invade forest hunters. I doubt fromsoft thought about lore when making that decision.
Although, Alvina does say: "Dare'st not in any attempt to double-cross. Have no doubt, such wretchedness, never will we tolarate". So FH gankers and questers could just be traitors from lore perspective

well if you spawn right next to them, which happens a lot, you can't really do that. Sometimes i tend to get lucky and always spawn in that best point in the middle of the woods kind of near shivas armor.
I don't know if there is something you can do to increase your chance of spawning there, but i haven't noticed one.

The game should never spawn you within x distance of the host. It's retarded. If the host wants to get 2 phantoms and cover all 3 spawn points, then let them rot doing nothing while nobody spawns in.
Anyway, I will hide if I see it's 1v2 usually. The problem is that you don't know that until you find them. For some reason, even with the ring of fog and backing off the instant I spot a phantom, they often still see me somehow and I get chased. At that point I've no choice but to bait them into going near cliffs, fire off surprise flame tempests, run to mobs if still alive, etc.

Are you using grass crest/green blossoms, wolf ring, ext. Even with fog ring on they are able to see the aura around you.

summoning in the forest is weird, you can summon only one phantom from the area just past artoria's crest door but further into the forest you can summon more (like around alvina's house) other wise all the signs disappear from the area near the door once you've summoned one there, i think it was an attempt to prevent extreme ganking on froms part...
