Re: In-Game NPC Stats
I was actually curious about this before, but didn't look it up until now:
It appears that the souls dropped by invading phantom NPCs match the exact amounts that you'd get from a set level from a real player in PvP. In other words, they could've been arbitrary amounts like the Forest NPCs that don't match a real level, but it seems that they do correspond to the level calculator.
Kirk: Level 45 (Depths)
Maneater Mildred: Level 55
Paladin Leeroy: Level 85
Lautrec: Level 75 (Anor Londo)
Kirk: Level 95 (Demon Ruins & Lost Izalith)
King Jeremiah: Level 100
I don't know if they have arbitrary stats otherwise that don't really reflect these levels, though.
edit: Chester seems to be an exception. He drops 9505 souls, which doesn't match a real level. The calculator will tell you that he's level 57, however an actual level 57 invader will not drop that amount of souls (they should drop 9385), meaning it's probably an arbitrary amount more like regular stage enemies.

Re: In-Game NPC Stats
i had a thread in the archives for a while where I tried to figure out more about NPc levels. I did the forest NPC's, Mildred, King Jermiah, and Kirk.
I discovered most NPC's are approximately level 90 when I was doing that, Apparently, I don't even remember my own research, just go read the thread.
some, like mildred and king jeremiah, have special buffs, like mildreds permanent flash sweat, and Jeremiahs perma-great magic barrier.
EDIT: Ublug found it.

Re: In-Game NPC Stats
Thanks for that. I was curious as to how the game mechanics functioned for NPCs. Take Leeroy, for instance. He wields Grant & Sanctus. Thus, he must at least have 50 STR and 30 FTH.
If the same game mechanics apply.

That's fascinating. Thanks. (Tips hat to you)
Is your method listed in that thread? How'd you do that?

Me and a buddy would each make a level 120 character with identicle stats. I would first let an NPC beat up on me, and carefully graph how much damage it did.
Then we slowly over a period of time would have me level up a character to mimic that NPC's stats. I'd have +1-15 equipment, and see what I needed to wear to get the exact same damage per hit values, and same defensive values. Once we had something that was 99% accurate, I'd post my result.

Hahaha, some NPCs don't play fair, that's true. I suppose that's just FROM anti-trolling; throwing us an NPC summon with ungodly/godly stats to help out.

Higher. He has 3000 HP, and his shield must block 95% magic, fire, and lightning, because he can block ANYTHING with minimal HP loss.defacto wrote:

That's just a crazy amount of HP. Just for kicks, I wish FROM had arranged game mechanics such that a build like Tarkus could actually be built in game, without hacking. It'd be all kinds of fun and totally rewarding to own *** at that point.

You would have to be banned from PvP If a human controlled him he would be unstoppable.DissidentCitizen wrote:Rynn wrote:Higher. He has 3000 HP, and his shield must block 95% magic, fire, and lightning, because he can block ANYTHING with minimal HP loss.defacto wrote:

Re: In-Game NPC Stats
Ah, I found that Lautrec also drops an actual amount of PvP souls when you invade him in Anor Londo. He is level 75 there.
Does anyone have footage of summoned NPCs like Solaire, Lautrec, Tarkus, etc, being killed by an invader, from the invader's perspective? I wonder if they too have actual "PvP souls" that can indicate their level. If it's an arbitrary amount, like 1,000, 3,000 etc, then we can't really infer the level from that. But if it's something like one tenth of the souls needed to level up, then we can.

Re: In-Game NPC Stats
Solaire dropped 19407 souls for me when I killed him as an invader in the depths and in the parish. That's where I got his level of 151 from when I did my writing on Solaire. His level went up to crazy standards later into the game. In the Kiln he only gives 1000 souls though. Most maddening.retro wrote:Ah, I found that Lautrec also drops an actual amount of PvP souls when you invade him in Anor Londo. He is level 75 there.

Laurty gave me 25 souls the only time I have EVER killed him as an invader.
Tarkus is worth 6,402 souls.
Mildred gives you 2,140 souls.
Leroy gives 2,251 souls.
On NG+ the souls they give don't increase, but they damn well get a ton more powerful.

I love waiting in sens for invaders with tarkus. He is definitely a master at killing dark wraiths, and fun to watch.
