The undead executioner's chariot also points to another feature that hasn't been explored in the series previously: Vehicles. The player's vulnerability in Demon's and Dark Souls was reinforced by the lack of vehicular assistance...Shibuya describes vehicles as something the team wants to implement in Dark Souls II as a new element for players.

To tell the truth, a vast amount of the enemies vulnerability was also due to no vehicular assistance...so...my guess is vehicles are going to be better for mobs than the player. But, forget about my opinion, what do you think about the implementation of vehicles?

I think that they will have to think a lot of how they are going to implement them so they enhance the gameplay instead of ruining it. Anyway I'm pretty sure they wouldn't take the risk of adding them freely for control, I mean if they add them, they will be sure for scripted events/scenes. Anyway I would like to try new things.

It depends a lot on specifically what vehicles are added. I hope to ONLY see historically accurate vehicles, such as chariots, boats, horses and caravans.

I could see it either working spectacularly or very poorly....

I mean I would like at some point with the mentioning of the ocean being in the game fight on a ship of somekind...

but then again this makes me begin to think that the game with have a far more linear clear cut narrative than the previous games... this is something Im kinda dubious about.

The only "vehicle" I could see working are horses for enemy mobs to use. In fact, I can only see vehicles in favor of enemies...

Nope, can't imagine any good Dark Souls mounting. My creativity levels must be flawed!

im not that into the idea....especially scripted events.... it seems so far away from what dark souls is....I want non-scripted open world lol it sounds like they are going in the totally oposite direction.... :/

To me vehicles don't make enough sense.. Hollows are too dumb to use them, and too OP for the player to use them.

The idea of having a level where you jump from ship to ship sounds really cool though

You wont be able to control the vehicles so they will probably be used only for shortcuts or one way transport like the bat demons that take you to anor londo.

Aaagh, what are you saying, vehicles, noooooo. This is Dark Souls 2 we're talking about, not Skyrim! I have no quarrel with Skyrim by the way, I think it's a great game and horses etc. fit right in. Even so, I prefer to hoof it.

Iv changed my mind, after seeing picture of chariot guy, I think mixing up the mobs and bosses you get with guys on vehicles like chariots or on horseback could be really cool, though the player being the lone one man army should remain

I chose the "only hollow deals in absolutes" I wouldn't mind the venichles (really the chariot looked awesome and as Dark Souls as it possibly can) but on the other hand I don't really see where we would need them, unless it's going to be massive open world setting.

No to vehicles. There is no point to this, and it takes away from the essence of what Souls games are. The challenge lay in getting through the level and defeating the boss without dying. Adding some sort of chariot contraption into the mix makes no logical sense.

Not to mention every game that implements this (Prince of Persia, God of War) always relies on button mashing to not crash, fight enemies, steer properly. YUCK. This is not GoW, although much of the concepts and artwork for DkSII seem to lean heavily on it.

Weren't the Darkwraith's in the Dark Souls artwork on horses?
This is no new idea for the series.
But don't know why everyone is bringing up Skyrim, mounts have been around for far longer than TES let alone Skyrim.

It can be good or bad but vehicles aren't necessarily new. Enemies and maybe you using them yes, but we've seen them. Demon's Souls had the remains of carts and horses in Boletaria on the King's Road and the Knight Quarters. Plus I think vehicles will be more for enemies then players (like the chariot enemy shown in the edge magazine). The whole idea of the boats mentioned in the inteview I feel willl work as teleportation between lands. Like you get on a boat, cuts to loading screen, and bam the screen comes on with you on the boat in another land/realm. That's how I view it.

Games like the legend of zelda which are games with large open world maps do benefit from the use of a faster means of transportation like the horse you acquire during the game. But to put vehicles into games like dark souls where you are ment to first take it slow and be cautious with your every step seems like a bad idea. But you never know, maybe the maap in dark souls two will be larger and even more open than dark souls. But im perfectly fine sticking to walking and exploring on foot. If anything but my feet.. the lord vessel is my vehicle

Sorry, but I can't see how it's even possible to cast judgment on the "vehicle" idea when I have very little information on what it actually looks like or how it works. Perhaps you guys have seen more than I have?

I think a Vehicle themed boss would be kinda cool, take him out with arrows if you play that way or have some sort of object that he runs into and falls off his Vehicle and has to fight you like a manly man. (Don't take this to heart just me thinking how they could use Vehicles...) but for mobs and the player no i don't see Vehicles working.
