I sit and watch my opponent with my shield up so I don't get effected by phantom hits, then react accordingly to what he/she does. I never make the first move, ever.
This sorta reflects how unfamiliar with pvp I am, I suppose lol. Still learning the ropes and all that, and since I midroll I have to be extra careful.
As you would imagine, I get accused of turtling alot.

meh, nothing is wrong with turtleing at all. i just 2 hand a dex weapon and go like crazy, it wins a lot through sheer surprise. if im going up against someone a bit smarter i may try the circling, but i hate doing that.

I tend to two-hand one of the longer spears and go on from there. Most of the times, I out range my opponents, as well as countering their parry attempts. Also, as soon as I realized that 31+ poise isn't really necessary, I switched from the Wolf Ring to the Leo Ring, for some very satisfying counter damage. In the off hand, I'll have any kind of rapier for backstabs and ripostes. Sometimes I'll slap on a Gold Tracer for no apparent reason. To top it all off, I throw in some magic as well.
God, I love the rolling attacks that the spears in Dark Souls have.

Using hit&run tactics and switching from being aggresive to passive and from melee to ranged randomly.
Side strafing to both sides in anticipation of backstab attempt, so I can instantly punish it, while keeping in enough distance to roll bs most attacks (but I rarely use roll bs).
Easy way to defeat me is to use spears (they get me 4/5 of the time), or have a lot of lag.

according to messages i've recieved online i'm dirty, black, homosexual and rely heavily on my crutch pyromancies and katana. or claymore.
and i manipulate the games lag to always win, though it seems i haven't learnt how to control this fully as i get lagstabbed every now and then.

Sometimes it feels like people from CoD are playing Dark Souls.

I never fight locked-on when I use anything bigger than a curved sword. I usually run around like a maniac and try to be unpredictable with my attacks. I tend not to use shields much either (I'm a roller), but that's usually because I forgot about them

I can't really say what my strategy is. For my level 15 griefer all I do is use Chameleon to wait until they walk past and then backstab. If that doesn't kill them ten I spam poison and toxin clouds, dung bombs, and poison knives til I get them, then I run away and hide for 10 minutes.
On my super-tank I walk. Slowly. I have nothing to worry about close-range or against gankers because of the Ultra-greatswords wide horizontal swing-arc, and the Dragon Great Axe's explosion. If they start running away, I do the Dragon Great Swords R2 for the long-range cannon blast.

I try to keep rolling like a silver skeleton. I have a fast roll with 56 poise. I also have 40 end, FaP, Grass Crest, and Child for an almost insane amount of stamina.
I use katanas for speed and range, but buffed for damage. I use my backup shotel for turtles. I will also use WoG for surprises, and it sometimes works.

I actually prefer Sunlightblade + balder Side Sword + Vow of Silence. If they're a mage, I go in swinging. If they're not mage... I still go in swinging, though it usually ends in a parry :x lol

Before patch I fought many roll bs fishers whilr using DWGR. Now there's some variety. I am mostly the aggressive type that laugh every time my opponent misses a parry.
