    Really. I just started to think about, how come our character knows so much about different items? Even unique items he never saw before? If he is not the one with that info, where does he get it from? Who or what is giving that info to him?

    Lol who knows. Perhaps Velka is telling the character. Or maybe there's some reverse casuality magic going on here, involving the obtaining of information from the wikis from before the items' abilities and info were revealed to the character. Or perhaps it was from before the character became an undead. You can thank Lordran's distorted flow of time, too.

    But I wouldn't delve too much into this matter.

    He/She obviously read the encylopedia of rare weaponry and artefacts that you've only just made at a giant blacksmith at a lost city. He/She better check those references, wouldn't want to get lied to by the author now would he/she?

    There is a convenient little tag on everything in the world, which is read, memorized then taken off.

    Or the character could have a copy of the Dark Tales which tells him/her everything.

    Or there is a tiny person on his shoulder telling him/her everything

    I don't think our characters are given the information. We are, as players. If our characters were the ones getting the information from the descriptions From would have committed a pretty big sin of creating fiction, which is breaking down the 4th wall. In other words, because some descriptions tell you how to use things, like press such and such button to do this, then that implies that our characters know that we're pressing buttons to control them. It just doesn't make sense

    Our character knows none of it. As an ephemeral attachment to the character we become privy to information only available from the psychic impressions recorded in the fabric of each item. Or some other bull****

    Your character is clearly old enough to have learned the history of their own world. It's not a stretch to think that, you learned about Lordran before making your journey.

    It's both a benefit and a curse of being an undead in Lordran.

    You see it is one of the things that your character is allowed to hear as they become an undead warrior. As soon as they pick up a weapon voices start talking inside your characters head describing everything about the weapon. It is because of this your character is able to learn about it but at the same time those voices are there to drive your character insane and eventually hollow.

    There is of course one item that has driven even some of the greatest undead to turn completely hollow though and it is the Pendant.

    That would probably be the funniest way to learn about items.

    Just imagine picking up a whole entire armor set and then the corpse you grabbed it off of gets up and follows you around describing everything about that set of armor.
