My first ever pure mage build

I've never done a full-blown mage build and I thought it would be fun. I capped off my demon's souls experience with one so I figured I would do the same with dark souls.

let me know what you can think, and how I can tweak it for PvE as well.

Are you focusing on melee? You're going to want some poise if you are.

no more pure spell caster. if i focus on melee i can put on the wolf ring. i don't like dedicating a lot of effort into poise to a certain point. i think it's easier to dodge most attacks than tank them. stunlocking is inevitable to a certain point.

you will be able to oneshot people more effectivley with a pursuer/db combo if you make a strength build for dark magic.

i haven't done it. but uh.. this might work for you.

offhand stuff is supposed to be swapped.. not actually carried on you.
you can go darkhand and thorn gauntlets too.
also you can swap out the manus cat for a normal one to conserve casts later in the fight.. but try to use the casts effectively if you go with this.
(i guess i should specify why this is important, manus leaves u with one cast but it doesn't take the fraction away, so if u swap to a normal one u get your cast back. remember that if u go with this.)
ugh.. don't want to sound like captain obvious but swap the regular cat for your shield too. the manus catalyst u can hit stuff with, the regular one you can't. unless u go thorns.

This looks like a really fun build. Thanks for the tips. I might have two start two new ones today. haha.

i don't think this build is exactly easy to use. sure its got dark magic on it, but uh..
yeah if you're a bit newer you might have your work cut out for you. it has the potential in the right hands tho.

This is one pure sorcerer I've been thinking about doing. According to tests on sorcery speed with high Dex the fast sorceries (CSS, Dark Bead) only get a very low increase, which in my opinion isn't worth the Dex. The problem I have with this is one is the unnecessary high End, but I just wanted to wear DWGR for show off.

Well you have 7 offensive casts, 3 of which are REALLY slow to cast...

Here is my pure caster build... I rarely lose w/ it and it smokes PvE...

Yeah I never realized how slow some of these spells are. I will aim for something more like this. Is it me or are the new AotA spells almost OP?

It is not a pure mage, but a spellsword, however the difference can be simply negated by switching my current spells for the usual kind and you can have something like this:

not at all as im using logans cata i have more castings to play with, and 30 end and rofap gives me plenty of dodge room, you could go without avelyn, i only use it for those gmb users :S
