GLGS build advice

I was thinking about building something like this:

Is this a viable SL50 build? What's the general consensus on the the GLGS? Should I lower strength and focus on just 2 handing it? Since the damage isn't split does it do more than say, a Chaos +5 Zwei or a Chaos +5 Greatsword?

Has 50 less AR than OGS, but I think it's enough for 6 less Dex. Overall looks good, however you would want more End for stunlocking. 30 End is a good minimum.

I could bump the build up to SL55, take 2 points from Vitality and still be over 1500hp with this:

Should I maybe swap DWGR for Wolf Ring and add some poise?

I have the same question. I like DWGR I-frames, but in GLGS's case poise is important. However I don't think 40 poise is enough for trying to stunlock, so I would either go tank (91 poise) or DWGR.

Thanks a lot for the input, Wyrm. While I think you're right about poise and being a tank I'm just going to keep this build in the dragon covenant and rock the DWGR. Even though it might not be totally optimized for PvP I think it'll be a lot of fun.

What are some people's thought on the GLGS? I never really see anyone using it, so is it considered a bad weapon?

The Obsidian Greatsword is better IMO. The GLGS R2's are pretty terrible. While you do need to invest 6 more DEX, you have 50-60 higher AR, good R2's, and you can buff it with resins.

I believe it doesn't scale with mag adj anymore.

If I'm going to get the same benefits with just a normal flame that would be great! I would hate to spend all those souls and get nothing out of it. I'm also planning on farming 80 dragon scales so my torso stone will straight rip.

I was under the impression that ascended flame consumes HP faster, at least that was how it use to be when I was into PW buffs...

Not anymore

The patch made it so PW doesn't kill you faster with a higher flame. Also, the GLGS is a good weapon, but it's better for a build with high stats so it matches up with the other greatswords in terms of damage. With these stats I would put more into Dex and use the OGS, as I wouldn't exactly consider the GLGS' 430 damage viable.

What If I just 2h a Chaos +5 Greatsword? I don't really like the OGS because the range feels a bit underwhelming to me.

To my knowledge it's not any shorter than the GLGS, but the Greatsword is in a different class from the GLGS and OGS. Though called a "Greatsword" it's actually in the same class as the Zweihander.

With base stats at 430 AR I think the GLGS is good. The Flamberge gets as high as 445 AR with 40 Dex, so it isn't not viable.

...what is OGS and AR?
