i am roaming around ash lake at the moment and just wondering if it´s worth to join the dragon covenant. is there a lot of pvp going on and if so, are there certain spots where best to put the sign?

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
You probably have heard about the "Red Soapstone"? Basicly you put it down on the ground and wait for someone to activate it. The same mechanic applies to the Dragon Eye which is obtained y joining the Dragon Convenant. But people can only see it when they carry a dragon scale and even then the host can simply ignore it if he doesn't want to fight.
Because the host has to carry a dragon scale it is better to drop the sign in higher leveld areas near bonfires. Where people have at least accidently collected a scale =D
But using the Dragon Eye has one major advantage. All(?) fights will be one-on-one and by my experience 95% of the people i have fought were really cool without WoG-Spamming or such things.
I also discovered the Bonfire at the beginning of the Painted World seems to be a good place to drop the sign because while waiting you can farm a good amount of souls. And around every 10-15 minutes someone calls me for duel. =D

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
ah, allright, thank you!
i will try it in ariamis then. by the
way, i don´t own any dragonscales anymore (used them for levelling the
tooth). can i still put the eye down and get summond? or is it just the host who needs scales?

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
Only the host needs the scale, if you beat them you will gain a scale.
I've only been summoned twice ever as a Dragon, but I haven't tried it in a while so maybe things are better now. This is just one example from me though, so I can't speak for the experience of all dragons. The chest stone is ridiculously overpowered, to the point of being really cheap in PvP.

How the hell the chest stone is overpowered? No one has EVER complained about it, you're the first one. You just dont know the mechanics to say something
Using the torso stone makes you naked. I barely survive 3 hits from anything, I'm one shot by a crystal soul spear.
Using the torso roar buff drains 70% of your own stamina, making you much more defenseless specially if the opponent rolls to avoid the blast, which does not damage them like WoG.
After the buff, you have 6 seconds to hit the guy, for an extra 300 damage. That my friend, requires tooo much skill, you don't have idea

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
I suppose I would consider it overpowered only because I've seen Farmers in the Forest use it and stun lock me to hell.

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
Thats waaay diferent
Try using you the stone, too see how actually is
Dragon duels are only allowed if you have no phantoms in your world, which means, no farmers
in a 3vs1 match, I bet anything would be considered overpowered, I have seen even a phantoms spamming golem's axe special attack followed by a dragon slayer arrow by the host

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
Yeah, Force is deadly in a 3v1, then again Force actually can be nice for setting up a BS in a 1v1, though I'm not fond of doing such.
I've never actually had enough Dragon Scales to get it myself, I've only seen it on farmers, so that was pretty much my only impression of it. Probably when I get this new character to 120 I'll join the covenant and see how the Duelling goes.

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
to me, this covenant is still a bit weird. i like the idea of pure duels, most likely with people who have a similar mindset in terms what they expect from a fight (some basic rules, etc.).
but from a role playing perspective this covenant makes not too much sense to me, as it´s only purpose seems to be to kill other members of the same covenant. the others are there too help others out or too hunt sinners or are just bad by definition and kill anybody. to me, it is much easier to identify myself with any of those, which i wanna do, wenn i play an rpg. probably best to see it as a kind of sports-covenant. like a boxing club in real life, but with leathal consequences.
anyways, this game has something for everybody, which makes it that great!

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
It is very much a sparring club, and that may have been From's intention. I am surprised it has not garnered more of an organized prescence for that reason.

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
its that dragon scales are mostly useless. same reason people hate on darkmoons, no reward beyond souls for killing the invader.Emergence wrote:It is very much a sparring club, and that may have been From's intention. Yea but the Darkmoon gives you no choice, he invades up. The dragon, you can choose to fight or not. If dragon scales are useless, why would someone summon me? To fight just like red soapstone, not to gain souls or humanity

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
i agree and use the rss often, but i see the covenants that don't reward killing its members with humanity a lot of heat. i have no problem playing a dragon beyond the fact that its generally slow going, but dks is slow going as a game so it doesn't bother me too much.

Re: On the Dragon Covenant
I like the Dragon Cov myself, and I don't agree that the torso is overpowered. Considering that we have to fight naked, it's one hell of a trade off. Using the torso is like any other technique in the game...some people just adapt to it and use it effectively, but others don't, or simply don't enjoy that style. It requires a patient playstyle, since you're not going to make a lot of quick kills, and have to learn to make a strike, but not tap your stamina completely so you can get out of reach again. I do like the idea of lots of 1 vs 1 duels thought.
