A weapon I think is god-tier for me is the Shotel, excellent moveset, fast damage, and the fact that I can go around those pesky greatshields.

Re: The best weapons to use in pvp?
Any weapon at all as long as you know how to use em right (Except straightsword hilt, broken straight sword etc)
I have a Greatsword ( Ultra greatsword ) w/ a fast roll on my main Dex char and i use a mail breaker as a quick hitting weapon because a rapier weighs too much.
The mail breaker is the most inferior thrusting sword but it still has uses ( Mostly utility like shield poking, cleaning up weakened players and a very quick means of poisoning players with resin ) and its the only one i can use if im using my greatsword since the rest put me into a mid roll.
Its about how you use weapons but its true that a Balder side sword is a better poke weapon than a longsword, but the longsword has way more combo potential, more combo potential= More damage.

Hehe lets face it Longsword is the best balanced weapon in the game, Light, Capable of 1000+ damage in one combo unbuffed, It has an average poke range, The moveset is versatile and its one handed running R1 has some dead angle potential.

Re: The best weapons to use in pvp?
There are too many good weapons but I'm fond of Ricard's Rapier, Sunlight Straight Sword and the Claymore
In particular the SSS - Basically a variation of the longsword, but it has better base damage, better damage scaling, and higher durability than the Longsword. A good trade-off for being 1 point heavier and having higher requirements. Moveset however is similar to the Claymore
Did I forget to mention it is available from early on in the game too.. and for free!

My all time favorites will always be the Claymore, Estoc and Falchion
But the Greatsword might just knock the falchion out of that list.

I would like to remind everyone before it starts, let us not turn this into a spear debate. Enough of those already.
I personally think stat allocation is more important then ones weapon, and as I don't have a main weapon that I think is best, I'll just say that the rapier can be most widely used best in PvP.

Solaire is too cool to kill early in the game. Even for a good sword.

Best spear is the the dragonslayer arrow, since they are technically small spears.

Vitality gouge, elemental rapier/estoc, hornet ring.
Grab 10 attunement and slap on power within and gooooo fishing! Most players adore this tactic and will message you with many remarks regarding your skill and ability to defeat enemies even who are much higher level than you.
It's pretty light so you should be able to use wolf ring to get enough poise to poise-stab people, which adds even more popularity to the build.

Full Giants wouldn't make much sense with an estoc fishing strategy. That setup is better for trades or higher SL so you still have mobility (END gouge fast rolling spear comes to mind, or just OnlyAfro's loller 2h chaos zweihander fastroller).
It's not super easy to get a fast rolling giants with a hornet ring taking one of your slots, nor do you really need it. I'd go hornet + wolf and just add enough poise to get through most attacks (Hollow waistcloth + 1 other piece). Heater/estoc is 5 pounds, so you could easily maintain fastroll and be able to poise tank any hit except 2h UGS type stuff. However, with even 1 giants piece you're already in mid-roll territory without FAP or Havel's.
Armor of thorns=You're screwed
How does armor of thorns break 54-55 poise?
The only thing that screws chaos rapier hornet/PW are people who defend against the backstabs consistently and can avoid getting parried.

Well if you roll into them right before you're backstabbed, the animation will play, but you won't take damage from it since you dealt at least 1 point of damage with the roll.SirArchmage wrote:You're kidding......right? Armor of Thorns doesn't need to break poise to work, just needs to deal 1 point of damage.TheMeInTeam wrote:Kiva the wanderer wrote:TheMeInTeam wrote:Vitality gouge, elemental rapier/estoc, hornet ring.

Re: The best weapons to use in pvp?
Rolling to do this damage in the lag is no small feat, and you still have to avoid being parried lol. Maybe we need to add a couple points in faith and 2 more in attunement so one can use force to tickstab people too ^_^.
If AoT were a consistent backstab counter, why don't more people run at least 1 piece of the set?

AoT takes a long time to get, like, the whole game long, and you have to fight kirk three times, so that means you have to be human the whole time.TheMeInTeam wrote:Rolling to do this damage in the lag is no small feat, and you still have to avoid being parried lol. 1st Time you fight him in the depths, not too hard.
2nd Time you fight him in the demon ruins, on a thin ledge that you can fall of very easily
3rd Time you fight him in lost izalath, near the boss area if, also there's a witch. If you don't kill that witch fast enough, you will die.
Also, the armor is heavy.
And parries can be countered with a swift kick, followed by a quick thrust attack.

Re: The best weapons to use in pvp?
Whether or not you get parried depends on your predictability, as people that are good don't spam the parry button enough for them to be kicked.
Also, you cannot use how difficult it is as a factor. Plenty of things that are harder to get are used much more often in PvP. Ever farmed for 80 ears in the Darkmoon covenant?
