    Acid Surge Empty Acid Surge

    Post by Wilkinson3424 Fri Jul 12, 2013 12:19 am

If I spot an idler I spit some acid on them. But is it really effective? How much damage does it do per use? I read the wiki and it said each time a player is caught in the cloud it reduces gear by 8 points.

Not sure if it means just getting hit by it, or staying in it the entire time.

Staying in it the whole time is 8 durability. It's quite literally the most useless pyromancy in the game. I've had much more success with undead rapport and iron flesh

    Actually it's 8.4
Each "Tick" of durrability lasts 5 hits before the item loses a point of durability, which results in surge taking "8 to 9" durability.

    Still worthless of course.

They were scared of scraping spears...

So they made repair costs miniscule, removed durability damaging gear, made gear lose durability slower, and gave them tons more durability than in the past.

    From overnerfs everything.

From destroyed 65% of all builds when they nerfed the flip ring.

Mineswell corrupt all our data, save us the trouble of deleting them all.

from destroyed 95% of all the eyesores in the game. They might as well make us pay them 5 dollars for fixing it.

I get headaches just watching Havelmoms and Giantdads flipping around from old videos, I'd rather have them keep it the way it is instead of have the meta consist of everyone and their Havelmom flipping around.

Oh man, DWGR working on mid rolls.  Not the best of times, because everyone who was really trying would run it.  From had to bring that down unless they wanted literally everyone on that ring ^_^.

Acid surge is as about as useful as putting stat points into resistance.  It's a shame, too.  It would be nice if low durability weapons were truly at risk vs these kinds of attacks.

Well yes if you made 65% of your builds rely purely on the DWGR then it is not their fault, that is like saying:

"FROM destroyed my OHKO hornet ring build with the patch."
    or
"From destroyed my 80 poise tank fast roll ninja build."

They were good nerfs that most of the community wanted due to the fact that those items were clearly OP. As for acid surge the only good thing it has is that most players will not go into it because of the effect, even when that effect is almost nonexistent.

I think most people don't go into it because of the effect of "you can't see", which isn't a favorable condition under which to approach an opponent.  It's a good way to walk into black flame stunlocks, CSS/Beads to the face, BS fishing you can't see properly, and other unsavory outcomes.  Given the somewhat increased risk, you'd need a good reason to run through one as opposed to just going around.

I miss the demons hatemails when you destroyed their brushwood set and it cost a packet to fix it. Acid cloud was pretty vicious.

That said there was little point of wearing any armour since the defence it gave was almost insignificant and there was no poise.
