You would think wouldn't you. Its not as true as one would like though. I don't "date," the concept of dating is idiotic and misleading at the best of times. I want to get to know people for who they are, not how they wish to present themselves on a date, nor am I interestied in sharing with people i do not already know well, as such i almost invariably start as a friend and tend to get "stuck there."

If I wasn't interested in the potential of a romantic relationship, I would not be tolerating their interactions in the first place. I already have friends, and feel no need to have more, as maintaining more friendships than I already have would take more effort (socialising is tiring) than I have to give.

If I simply explain this right off, it puts people off. I have no Idea why. People, despit claiming to value honesty, rarely actually appreciate it when its given, in my experience. (and refuse to give it, for that mattter)

No joke.  Most people betray their real feelings if you observe carefully though, at least to some extent.  In my younger years I went to great lengths to learn how to do it since it didn't come naturally to me.

For dating cultural variances make it different around the world.  Usually, however, if you have someone out on a "date" like environment and it's 1:1 the odds of getting stuck in the "friend zone" are almost 0 unless you literally "just hang out" for a bunch of dates.  Now, do you try to make a move or not?  That's where reading signals from the other person is important, or one can just try and if they refuse, oh well lol.  Regardless, they call it "game" for a reason, in a lot of ways it is an observation + predicted reactions type of thing, and the choices you make can greatly influence the attraction too.  Whether one feels it's stupid or not, that's how it typically goes.

Some people wouldn't be put off though, especially if you're a bit older you can get away with that now and then...but even in my age group that would be unusual still.  Also note that to some people (including the one occasionally across from you), social interactions are not tiring but instead energizing.  On most of the personality profiling tests I've seen its one of the key distinguishing factors between an extrovert and introvert.

You know,telling someone how you feel isn't as bad as you might think.The worst that can happen is that they don't feel the same way,that wasn't likely to change had you not said anything so by now you would know and be able to move on.

Maybe it just works for my personality but I've never faced rejection that way.Maybe courage is attractive to women.I even told my best friend I loved her,she didn't say it back for a while but didn't reject me either.I waited and she eventually told me how she loved me too.It may not be easy to say it at first but it feels better when you do I think.

I wouldn't make a move without even a hint that someone likes me but if you get the feeling at all,just try it instead of worrying about it.

I'm surprised Confession Bear hasn't made an appearance in this thread.

I have never dated someone, and have no interest in doing so until I find a girl that isn't as dramatic as Romeo and Juliet.(Based off of the conversations I hear while doing my work at school, I think that a girl in my age group that is drama free must be a very rare breed.)

I have never fired a gun IRL of any kind more hardcore than arguably either a rubber band gun or a high-powered water gun, depending on opinion.  I do regret that though and will probably learn at some point.

Only once, but I have been so drunk I couldn't walk to the bathroom, so I crawled instead.  Part of that path included a Total Gym 1000, which I crawled underneath.  Fortunately once in the bathroom I was able to use the wall to stand up, but I had to lean against it.  I hereby decree that people should generally stop at least one drink earlier than that.

However, the most questionable thing I ever did at a party was completely sober, and I probably shouldn't go into detail about that here...

I was been sufficiently bored in some of my grad school classes that I took notes with my left hand despite being right-handed.  I kept this up long enough to become reasonably legible doing so.

Even though i can (somewhat) draw, or do some precision stuff with my hands, i have extremely bad handwriting.
So bad that sometimes, i can't understand it myself, and other people seem to understand it better than me.

A confession thread huh? Interesting i guess i could spare a few tidbits.

I generally despise all people who are to a lesser degree of intelligence...including those who are born with mental diseases. Though i do try to stop myself but it doesn't always work and it has lead to some conflicts between me and my classmates.

I dislike bright colors as they hurt my eyes and remind me of the sun in the morning when it just wants to be right in your face. Speaking of which i dispise the sun also if i had it my own way i'd turn it off... or at least live where i get minimal sunlight.

I also actually liked CoD specifically World at War (still do). Still imo the best they made. And i do like Skyrim at times better than Dark Souls but they both change between each other so take it or leave it.

Oh and i hate the taste of water and milk Never understood why people like them. Still don't to be honest.

Have you seen me type? I don't understand social contracts and typical interactions. They're too fluid and situational, I have no Idea how anyone feels about me unless they tell me explicitly, and any attempt to guess on my part, informed or otherwise, would be presumptious (a quality I detest) and unreliable.

Its not that I'm a coward. I'm quite capable of doing most anything should I get a good indication to do so.


@meln I don't do social games. A waste of my time, and theirs. Even if I knew the rules (i don't) I wouldn't "play" on principle. I'm not going to manipulate someone into liking me. Its dishonest (another quality I detest,) a perversion of everything I might want in any relationship, romantic or otherwise, and creates unrealistic expectations.

If thats all they know, then thats what they will expect, an when I invariably fail to "put my best foot forward" they are likely to be less than impressed with the development, seeing as they are no longer looking at a person specifically tailored to engage their affection. You know, an actual human being.

I'm 22, and I've yet to meet someone who wasn't put off (at least initially) by my being frank. Even my friends (by their own admission) didn't like me initially, but circumstances that forced them to deal with me (school/work) taught them to value it and/or see past it.

Here's hoping, I guess.

I used to be like that (i think, hard to be sure about how another person experiences things though). 
Had quite a lot of problems with that in highschool, because i was a stranger to everyone and had no idea about how to act or what other people were trying to say most of the time. I just mimicked everyone else and tried to fit in (kind of cowardly, but eh, it got me through highschool) . 
i kind of got better at it over time, but i'm still not very comfortable in most social situations. And if someone isn't honest then most of the time i wont about it.


I very rarely spend time with my real life "friends" anymore. Mostly because school was the only thing we had in common, and i have no reason to be with them anymore. It's not that i dislike them, i just don't have anything to do with them really. And most of them are starting to pick up annoying habits (smoking, drinking, going out and causing mischief) that i don't want to take part in.

I am definitely freaked out by caterpilllars (damn artichokes...)

I tend to think that anyone who does something nice towards me has another goal in mind, beyond kindness.
