useless weapon turned out to be good?

is there any weapon that you originally thought would be useless? it may have been the moveset, the AR or something else.
for me it was the GS. i gave i try and thought it as useless. then i tried learn using it later and it turned out to be awesome. also the DGM, originally thought it was way to slow for PvP.

I used to think the butterfly horn was useless.... how silly of me.

Also, I disliked buffs because they ran out so quick, then I used them and saw you could easily end fights within a minute using them

the greataxe, i know everyone hasa lightning one but i hate elemental weapons so i just though it was meh but when i actually upgraded the thing i noticed it got a B in str so i started using it with slb and it was awesome.

Same here, I only recently discovered how awesome they are and have started incorporating them into most of my builds as well

Smough's Hammer. That thing is scary.

pickaxe, really A scaling in str...who was it I fought I think it was Billy and I was just joking around doing jump attacks and stuff but that weapon can pack a punch for real!

the mace and pickaxe are awesome for str builds, specially if you buff them.

quite a few of the normal weapons my first impressions of their movesets was, meh this isnt pvp worthy. some i avoided that later became favorites are the scythe,large club,im to tired atm to think of more lol.

Priscilla's dagger. It's so fast you can overwhelm some people in pvp. Plus you van do several attacks and still have enough stamina to dodge our block

Im pretty good with my low dmg claws. I mostly use them in all my builds

This, although I was surprised to realize that a Lightning Light X-bow with Lightning Bolts as weaker then a +15 Light X-Bow with heavy bolts.


The Lightning one only did like 10 more damage on the basic hollows, and they have like no elemental resistance.

Mace and Sunlight Straight Sword.

I didn't see the point of using the Sunlight Straight Sword when the Balder's Side Sword existed. I now find that the 2H R2 on the Sunlight Straight Sword is probably my favorite of all weapons. It's really easy to catch someone off guard with it.

Mace + Crystal Magic Weapon = Baddass (both in looks and effect)

Great Scythe with DMB, Charcoal Resin, or Rotten Resin, looks fantastic with Gold Hemmed.

Pike for me, I started offhand poking with it and it destroys.

Everything i ever read about the chaos blade told me how much it sucked. I love it.

Barbed Straight Sword. I don't know what it is, but equipping that weapon makes me want to go berserk to apply the bleed. It makes for a refreshing change of pace from the typical "sit back and actually think" fighting style and it's proven to be relatively effective, especially against opponent's who try and parry since my hulk-smash-berserk-rage style tends to be kind of unpredictable

Chaos Blad and Falchion. I read "HP" loss on the CB and thought, eff that. Glad I tried it. And the Falchion has a unique moveset. I'm bored with all my usual weapons now. Think I'm going to start experiment with some other stuff, like whips and crossbows.

Ricard's. Saw the damage and I was all like, "Meh."
Then I used it.

Crystal upgrade path. At first I was like "what's the point? +5 crystal will do a little more damage than +15 normal but it'll break and be useless after a little use." Then I looked at it on the small crossbow vs other upgrade paths... 292+258 damage with lighting+5 and lightning bolts; 374 damage with normal+15 and heavy bolts; 468 damage with crystal+5 and heavy bolts. That's a gigantic difference!

High strength weapons. I thought they were to slow but then I realized how awesome they were after trying out the zweihander and one-shoting almost everything in singleplayer.

GSOA... the first weapon I thought was useless....
Many followed after that though. :p
