Help with a PVP build Empty Help with a PVP build

Post by MsCherryBlossom Sun May 27, 2012 10:22 pm

I can't seem to figure out what exactly im supposed to do stat wise for my toon. Billy showed me this one toon that was supposed to be like Sephiroth but I don't think it would work too well for me.

I wanted to use my Fire Gargoyle Axe but was told it looses scaling.

My ideas for weapons are my +5 Lightning Broadsword or Washing Pole, or my Lightning Gargoyle Axe.

I just need ideas on how I should put my stats as I never really made a specific PVP build before.

Also I want to make sure to use the Elite Knight Armor body (my fav) so if anyone knows any thing I can add with that would help too.

Ok, since you are using non-scaling weapons (fire and lightning), the best thing to put your SL into, is that of magic (Faith/Intelligence/Attunement) if you plan on using such things, as you will imply more damage. Hope you know what each one goes towards, which i think you do well know that, so i won't explain that.

The use of Darkwood Grain is very popular, and people like to use it. I personally don't, but that's just me; Harvest over amplification, if you ask me. If you want a scaling weapon, that can use fire or lightning, go with faith (to 30 or higher), get a good talisman, get sunlight blade, and get either a crystal or +15 weapon. Crystal is fragile, but better in base damage, and the durability takes longer to decrease than other weapons. Just a quick check for ya.

The use of resin would also help to. if you still want to stick with the elemental weapons, than don't bother with such buffs. Just stick with vitality and endurance if you decide to use just fighting, with no magic or anything.

That is what I got, the basics.

This will help you out alot.

Scaling means weapons that get bonus damage off your stats. The elemental weapons only need the base stats because they lose all scaling.

Do you have a style you wanna stick to (say magic support or heavy tanking?)

I was planning to use the grain ring and maybe the red tearstone ring since I never heard of people using it and want to try it.

My style, I don't want to be a tank all slow but I want to at least be able to withstand some hits. If a better armor is recommended then let me know.

Hm.... http://tinyurl.com/7lbfawm that's a base that you can work from. Do what you will from there, I would say pick up something that scales a bit, because split damage doesn't do as much as pure physical or pure magic damage of the same AR.

I use the red tearstone ring with power within and server and evil eye. Good for PvP and PvE.

As for armour, hm... Well, I can suggest, if you are going for a good amount of endurance, for Cleric leggins, Balder Chestplate, and Hllow Thief Hood... maybe balder gauntlets as well. Have a good amount of armour, poise, and a creepy factor. If you have even more endurance, the Cleric Gauntlets instead of Balder may be, although they way about 7.4 (the cleric gauntlets and leggins, give or take a few 0.1s)

You can also go for the combination of Warrior (Chestplate) with Havel (Gauntlets and Leggins) with Elite Knight (Helm) as well. Just adding a few variables that have had a 'good' look, and good defence and poise.

    Have fun, darling. lol

Okay, I'm gonna go off your previous noted style and form a build around that (elemental weapons and pyro), though at SL120, I strongly recommend you try to find some other kind of magic to use and scaling, as they are better than elemental weapons in my opinion.

    http://tinyurl.com/7zo7z48

Here is the build, it's still got 20 levels to spare, honestly dunno what else you need if you just use elemental weapons and pyro, like I said you should try out other magic of some sort and I'll recommend some things for you if you wish.

I have a full mod raw washing pole, would that would work better than my element weapons?

+15 is better than raw. Raw increases base damage but decreases scaling. At +15 you get more base AND more scaling.

I have that too, I always thought element modding was better than just regular leveling of weapons.

It seems better because you just need base stats for it and it will perform at it's best. That said, certain weapons work better as just elemental because they don't scale well (anything with two Ds) Washing pole seems to be one of them, while the Iaito is a prime example for +15

Okay gotcha... about poise though. I want a high enough poise to where I wont get caught in a stun lock. Its happened to me plenty times before.

Would Elite Knight Armor/Havel Gauntlets/ Ornsteins Leggings be enough?

Also in terms of the FC stuff, what pyromancies aren't allowed? I do plan to use pyro.

I use this for deciding my armor. It is invaluable.

Just don't go GC crazy. Last fight club in sen's I was okay'd with fire tempest. You'll have 60 poise, which is enough for a Great Sword hit. 76 is what you need for UGS, but it's hardly needed if you roll through the hits. I stick to 56 poise because that saves you from all great sword hits.

the only thing banned in FC is backstabs turtling (hiding behind a shield and poking with a rapier or spear) the use of TWOP all together an spamming of spells, i,e, using 4 GC's in row, all pyro spells are good just dont use them one after the other, im sure you can use Greatfire ball then greatcombustion then greatfireball its just spamming of spells

What!? People never use the RTSr? Obscene, I use it all the time - although I sometimes switch to it when I get below 20% hp instead so I have an effect whilst its not active winking
