They'll have to patch Dark Souls, won't they?

When the DLC comes out, Dark Souls will have to be patched to 1.06 for compatibility reasons. Is it a far shot to assume that with this patch they might also fix some stuff that's wrong with dark souls? Or do you think that they wont bother?

Depends on what you mean by "stuff that's wrong". I don't believe they will for example remove the DWGR which is imo about 50 % of what is wrong with this game.
Like I said in another thread I personally would like them to give players the ability to cancel gesture animations. I can't imagine what could possibly even ugh anyway we anyway will have to take it as it is anyway........

They will have to patch it, but that doesn't mean they'll patch anything else.

At least they will be patching BB glitch etc; and I see what you did with the DWGR being 50% of whats wrong with the game

I really hope not. I won't play if it takes 10 hours of the now hugely boring pve to pvp at a respectable sl.

I agree with Forum. I'm not playing through the game from scratch everytime I want to make a new build. Ever again. If you don't want to get griefed, play as a hollow or offline.

To be honest I don't think it's even possible for FROM to get rid of the BB glitch, just like on demons with the dupe glitch which they just left, I presume because of the way items are transferred from NG to NG+ this glitch is possible, and would be too much work as well as the DLC work to get rid of it.
Still though, I would like to see it go, really don't like glitches that are purposefully abused so much

I understand why people BB glitch though personally I would never do it because I'm far too paranoid about corrupted save files, consoles crapping out, etc...
Even though it may seem like a waste of time, I'll err on the side of caution on this one.

If I stop enjoying PvE for a while, I either just play with the builds I got (i mean how different is each one gonna be, really?) or just play something else.

Would love to see the DWGR get nerfed in some way, shape or form, but I doubt they will.
Would also like to see backstabs become impossible if you have your shield on your back, that would be a small change, (that made sense in the literal), and still completely change the game for the better.

Sounds like a good idea, but then everyone will always just go two-handed with the GCS on their backs.

I'd like something to change with BS, but that isn't the best idea.. I mean then the only set up you'd see would be guys 2 handing weapons with grass crest on your back.. Would make builds that have two weapons rather than a offhand shield at a massive disadvantage.. It would encourage even less PvP variety than there already is

Or if you have a shield on your back you still can get some damage, but a ridiculous OHKO. I don't know, for example, the shield would only let you get 25% of damage or something.
That way the PvP would become a little more tactical and could improve as well.
I don't PvP because to me it is always the same. People flipping around with full heavy gear looking to stunlock you to death, or perform a lagstab or spamming great combustion.
That's my opinion though, and I don't want to generalize all PvP players looking and doing the same, but from my experience is what I've seen 90% of the time.
Perhaps I get to confuse duelers with invaders, but both are supposed to be PvP builds, right?

Thing is though doelker, the shield thing would actually reduce variety, would turn into guys using heavy weapons with shields on their back knowing BS is pretty much useless so they can just spam all they want..
I think would just become all 2H PvP, which I wouldn't like personally

That's a solid point... The key word "variety" , to me there is none left in PVP.
Remember the kick the Darkwraith is doing in the trailer from the DLC? How is it called... Backsweep or something? IDK, my point is that PVP need that sort of new implementatios to see a little more variety in fighting styles.

In fights at my skill, wherever that may be................ Its very difficult to explain, because its a contradictory concept, but it just is.Serious_Much wrote:If I stop enjoying PvE for a while, I either just play with the builds I got (i mean how different is each one gonna be, really?) or just play something else.
My fights are exactly the same, yet completely different with my varying builds. All speed, head games, baiting, foot work, resource management (including hp), and the goal is obviously the same, but its so different. The whys and hows all change, whats a bigger problem, when to strike, what to tank, when to dodge, how to bait. They're all department on so many things, every little bit makes a huge difference to me.
So Serious, I disagree. I much prefer doing my builds in 2 hours instead of 10, and each new weapon I choose to take up with that build is a huge adventure, that I want to experience in a pvp environment. I do still do things the old fashioned way occasionally, but its not how I am generally willing to play after so many playthroughs.

All pvp is the same on some level guys. Variety is there, you're just looking to deep to find it.

^^ Well, yes, I like your point of view... Allthough if there were new movesets with the DLC i guess that would be an improvement at the end and everybofy would be happy about it.
You get to try new stuff and tactics.
Anyway, I guess this is getting a derailed from the main topic.

Forum, you kinda misunderstood me.. It's just I see so many people do another build which is exactly the same as the old one except.. I dunno they change like their secondary weapon and one piece of armour.. Then they BB glitch to make it faster to do..
It seems really pointless to me, people remake builds with the tiniest of changes that makes absolutely no difference for the purpose of making a "perfect" build, then complain it takes so long to make it when they pretty much already have it on another toon.

That little bit, the extra 20 hp or 3 equipment weight or 40 spell damage could make all the difference. Change you're poise break or number of dodges and swings, determine wether of not that slb washing pole kills you in 3 or 4 hits, wether or not the spell kills in 2 hits. Little changes can have a huge impact.

Thing is if you have the skill to dodge all those, then it doesn't matter how many hits it can kill you in. Those little bits can make a difference, but skill level and the rest of the build is much more important than a couple of minor changes.
besides who bothers to figure out the amount of hits you can take from X weapon and buff or Y spell? To me thinking like that is where you cross the line from wanting to have fun with PvP to becoming too serious and only playing to win.
In some cases, I think a slightly less good build is much better than a perfect one, because it means you have to play better to win, and will make fights harder. To be fair you'll agree the harder and more equal fights are far more fun

You can never anticipate every attack, nor is dodging necessarily the best strategy.

^^Just added in some extra things there
Also, I don't really bother with a 'best strategy' I just do what I feel like just for fun when I PvP, whether doing things that randomly gets me killed or not I don't really care much. (Though for your examples buffs and spells, dodging till they run out is definitely ideal dont you think?)

I'd like them to patch out BB glitching, as I never use it and playing through the game at a low SL is difficult and fun. However, in the next Souls game it'd be nice if there was a quick-leveling system, or accelerated gain of souls, or something, so building pvp characters doesn't take 20 hours.

Maybe a PvP mode? Unlockable after beating NG+? Seems like that would please all parties.
