Your favorite world in Demon's Souls
Which world is your favorite in Demon's Souls? I'm not talking about the gameplay or enemies but the scenery and environment.
I thought world 4 was nice.

not world 1-1,3-1 or 5-1, because they're not totally burg, duke's and blighttown.... -_-

5-1 in Demon's is actually also called Blighttown. They were designed to be the same. Not rip offs of each other.
I'm going to say 3-2. It was such an intricate area with both the upper, narrow walkways overlooking huge drops, then the lower swamp area. What really impressed me was how these two areas worked in and out of each other. I'd never seen anything quite like that in a game before. Stuff like that was the beginning of Dark Souls whole if you see it you can go there mentality. I'm just constantly impressed by that system. I also found 1-1 through 1-3 to be quiet beautiful. The view of the giant stone/mountain formation with the castle integrated into it from the bridge that's strafed by the dragon was gorgeous. I also felt like it made the fight with False King Allant all the more epic. I still remember the first time I got near that ledge, during that fight, and caught a glimpse of the bridge far below. Absolutely blew my mind.

If it makes you feel any better, despite my belief that Demon's is a much more difficult game than Dark, I found Dark's Blighttown to be a good deal more difficult than Demon's.

The really really bright side is nobody will be sniping at you with blow darts. Those purple guys were new to Dark. As was the toxin status in general I think?

they are right next to the merchant, you go under and there's a n00b trap of a load of them protecting like 2 crescent grass and it's basically 100% foolproof plaguing for new player, i got suckered in like a retard

Oh, right right. I feel like these games have a tendency to make you feel like a noob consistently. If you make the smallest mistake, let your guard down for a second, etc, the games make you their *****. Or other players do.

Re: Your favorite world in Demon's Souls
I think the most well-done level in Demon's was the prison, 3-1. It was downright *** horrible. The groaning kept me up at night. I started watching Breaking Bad recently, and I *KNEW*, as soon as the dude with the bell showed up, that he was gonna be bad news, because it sounded just like the magic facehuggers from the ivory tower. And when you round that corner on 1F to find the mass of bodyparts just undead enough to wriggle out magic sniper bullets at you and thrash violently with their collective leftover bodyparts.... Not to mention the dozens of living dead trapped in pottery. They had to fire those dudes in a kiln to get them to stay that way. And always the groaning.... Look, I mean, I've played a lot of games, and I'm almost done with Dark Souls too, but *nothing* else, no other movie, no other game, hell I've been in the military for six and a half years, nothing else has ever given me PTSD like world 3-1 did. When I beat that level for the first time my hands were twitching, and they didn't stop for a week.

Yes!!! The dark and quiet atmosphere combined with the constant screams was really disturbing. I think is the level where I felt completaly alone. It has a really creepy atmosphere indeed.

World 4. Flying Mantas are beautiful, albeit awful.

Re: Your favorite world in Demon's Souls
Something about world 1 that I always liked, plus there is nothing like trying to go through there for the first time (red phalanx, dragon on the bridge, heck the first few goons swarming you) when you hadn't played either demons or dark yet that was truly special and aggravating

No love for World Two I guess? Well, me neither lol. Worlds 3-1 and 3-2 take the cake for me. They still give me nightmares.

Re: Your favorite world in Demon's Souls
Shrine of Storms was beautiful. I remember 3-2 being good too. But Boletaria* was the really amazing one. I thought Undead Burg was good and was going to take its place, but I recently started a new game of DeS and the feeling you get exploring that castle in 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 is just perfect. I think there's been few games that have captured that basic D&D environment so well. There's just something very classic about old castles, fiendish guards, and rotting horses out front.
And the initial running past the dragon's flames on the bridge was one of the best moments...
*oops, meant to write Boletarian Palace

Re: Your favorite world in Demon's Souls
Noticing the distinct lack of praise for world two, I will volunteer.
Those mining lizard-men seemed so miserable and their eyes in the dark were very eerie, add on top of that the fact that they'd leave you alone until you accidentally hit one and then you were dealing with hordes of pickaxes coming your way out of the dark.
Follow that with the labyrinth of 2-2 and the near impossibility of being invaded down there.
The Stonefang Mines were just as good as the rest of the game.

Ya know I really liked the atmosphere in the tunnels also. It had a way of making you feel really isolated and far from safety.

Yeah same here haha. World 3 is just fantastic. I was disappointed in the lack of a monk style invader boss fight in Dark Souls.

Re: Your favorite world in Demon's Souls
I liked 3 - 2, the one after the prison area. It had a giant living heart in that tower. You could hear it beating if you got close enough. You had to kill it by releasing the 2 huge chains.

Re: Your favorite world in Demon's Souls
Boletaria all 4 levels. There's nothing that quite compares to it, either in Demon's Souls OR in Dark Souls. It just feels... right.
