I always linked it by the fact that Rhea was killed by Petrus, and most people will find their first non-gift Pendant in Rhea's corpse if they aren't Forest Hunters.

I know this is off topic, but Rhea is a royal of the house of Thorolund, but the maidens are in service to Gwynevere. I get the gwynevere service idea from the description of one of the miracles you get from the pisaca in the archives. So if the maidens are in service to Gwynevere what does it mean?
The maidens get sent on pilgrimage to seek kindling to prolong the age of fire?

Vengeance is also the trademark for the Darkmoons. We have theorized that maybe Gwyndolin has a link to the pendant.
