Just Playing through Mass Effect 3 and realised how awesome the storyline would be if Shepard and Liara began a romance....... This may even compromise my current 'perfect playthrough'

I spent 5 years of my life on Mass Effect, the novels, the comics, the games....everything. I have had over 500 hours through my playthroughs of 1 to 3.

Don't finish Mass Effect 3. DON'T.

It has the sloppiest writing I have ever seen in the video game industry. It shattered everything I ever loved about the series.

Ya the ending of ME3 isn't really good at all, even with the extended cut which did explain some things but still left the ending being pretty dumb and just bad. I can't describe it but it was just a really bad ending for a good series of games.

I will disagree with these people to a point. The extended cut fixed most of the major issues with the endings. Before the ending had virtually nothing to it to be honest but the extended cut gives you much better endings and even adds in an ending in which you more or less say F*** you to a certain character. Almost everything is now explained; dialogue allows you to uncover more information about each ending. Cut scenes now explain why certain things happened or how certain characters got to certain places. Some events that used to always happen now may happen only if you play lazy. Seriously I didn't even really care that the original endings were bad as the game itself was fun but now I am genuinely annoyed that people still complain even though almost all the major problems with the original endings have been addressed.

Viral once you finish then give me a +1. I could just be terribly delusional and somewhat insane. Judge for yourself the endings. The extended cut to me added the proper amount of closure and depth to each ending but I suppose for some they just won't be satisfied and that is their right. Mass Effect, ending and all, will forever be one of my favorite video games series of all time up there with the Elder Scrolls. That is my opinion.

Romance Liara, let Tali and Garrus get together, and change the galaxy for the better. Thats what I did except like I said I didn't romance anybody my first ME3 playthrough. Romanced Liara in other ones though.

I'd have to say in regards to the ending the complaints mostly stem from how it is done, not entirely what isn't said. Mass Effect is not subtle and cryptic like Dark Souls, for comparison sake. The original ending was essentially, set up like Dark Souls. I'm fine with an ending like that, but in a game series where everyone just tells you everything it just goes against the whole tone. Without spoiling anything I'll just say the main flaw I can see is just how they did the ending, not what happens during it. Similar to if Dark Souls ended with you marrying Dusk and everything going back to normal, as you raise a family and rule over Lordran. Sure, its an ending. But it just completely doesn't fit the game.

Okay fine but this thread isnt about that.
