The title should be changed to include a spoiler hash and probably remove the word "nerf".

Seconded. Spears made the fight just boring since it forced you to either backstab or parry if you didn't have ranged weapon or long range magic (that usually can't hit for s*it).

Yup and shorter weapons just werent as viable. It also means that Low Level Griefer spear builds are going to have a tougher time

- If a spear hits a shield, it gets knocked away. That's how they were supposed to be actually, similar to in PvE. But deflection just didn't work in PvP, so they changed it. Now blocking is viable.

why is a weapon being nerfed a "spoiler" it has nothing to do with new areas/lore/new NPCs etc...
when we were all waiting for patch 1.04 was it?? i forget before it was released for America and the Japanese had it, people were flooding the forums with information on changes and nerfs and no one was crying "SPOILERS!!!!!!"

Just being considerate incase someone didn't want to know. It's just a good idea to Spoiler tag anything related to the DLC.
Also as it relates to new content it allows people to bring up spoiler things in conversation.
Say for example if there was a new spear in the DLC.

why were people not crying spoilers over the BS selling sparkling titanite, or elemental weapons getting nerfed, or Scaling weapons getting buffed for the patch?

Some people want to learn all of the mechanics themselves, sort of like playing the game for the first time. It's sort of like knowing how to backstab, parry properly, the timing for dodging WotG, and how to BS cancel before even buying Dark Souls.

Dunno if more, I think someone mentioned something about more stamina being lost when you poke from behind a shield than before. Not sure if that's true or anything though, can't remember where I saw it.

Apparently is also takes more stamina to attack with a weapon behind a shield, my Rapier, the only weapon I've seen first hand, takes around 40% more to attack behind a shield.
