What I was thinking is, if a player on your friends list see's your summon sign, he/she will see it as a light blue summon sign. And you will appear as a light blue phantom whenever you are in any of your friends' worlds.

The fans might like it but I don't think it'd be what the devs want their game to be. A big part of the Souls series is the isolation theme, you can get and offer help but you only do so to further your own selfish needs not because you're everyone's friend.
That's the intent anyway. Sure these game mechanics can be circumvented with enough planning and coordination but that's not what the game is supposed to be about. I actually think they probably didn't even want to add in those talking Gough stones.

What would be COOL is an option to completely hide all messages (developer's hints included) and signs. I just want to enjoy Dark Souls' beautiful scenery without having to play offline. And hiding the developer's hints would make the game more challenging. I don't know how many times I regretted reading one of the hints and let it spoiled a whole puzzle for me (some hints just cruelly pinpoint exactly what I need to do to solve the puzzle.) All the satisfaction that I would have gotten from carefully observing the environment all by myself, man...

I know, 99% of my friends play Call of Duty (To be honest, i die a lot more in call of duty than i do in Dark Souls), Right now i only have one friend who plays Dark Souls.

Ya, I know that feel. Once Borderlands 2 comes out, I'm going to quite literally force on of my friends to play Dark Souls.

Agree 100%. I started doing pve without a hud a while back, and it gave me a whole new appreciation for the game. Completely different feel. I know the argument against is, being that Dev's don't want us to have the comfort of a friend, but there is no actual way for them to stop players from summoning friends.
Rather it is simply inconvenient. I really hope they add friend support for their next game and make it easier. Because one way or another it happens, might as well acknowledge it.

Like Pendant said, the devs specifically didn't want that. It's pretty easy anyways: just pick a specific and clear spot to drop your sign and message it to your friend (like: "under the first pot to the right of the main gate").
About the option to turn off hints and signs: I wholeheartedly agree.
