new greatsword swing speed
sup, I play XBL and wondered if the new greatsword swing speed was all inclusive or just a slower swing for the "fast" greatsword like claymore? do greatswords like the man-serpant greatsword swing the same as before or do they too swing slower? thanks!

Re: new greatsword swing speed
Nope. I'm pretty sure all greatsword swing slower in the PTD edition. So no greatsword can really stunlock any more.

If you must mock it at least explain. Please. If there is something really bad about it I would like to know.

Re: new greatsword swing speed
Has it been proven that some GS have a slower swing speed than others? I've used them all, and it seems to me like the R1 move set is identical on all of them. In any case, they're all the same speed now, which is slower than they ever were by quite a bit.

Re: new greatsword swing speed
as far as i can tell the swing speed hasn't been touched, its the speed between your second swing that's longer. allowing you to hop out of the stun lock with ease really.

The first hit is normal the second hit is slow.

Re: new greatsword swing speed
Yeah, it's technically the recovery speed that has slowed. They most likely did this to lessen the stunlock capability of GSs. You have to use an ultra-GS or greataxe to get a perma-stun, but then you can only muster 3-4 (2H) swings from a maxed stamina bar.

Re: new greatsword swing speed
Why would you hate on str weapons rofl! They are pathetic now. All the dex users got what they wanted :/ -Sigh- I loved using my GS's on the PS3 no one used them anymore. Dex weapons have and always will be a ton more superior than strength weapons which is sad. No matter how skilled you are with GS's it doesn't matter in the end Dex weapons are better.

Greatswords will always be #1 in my heart, I don't care if they nerfed my MLGS into the ground, it'll always be amazing in my eyes!

Re: new greatsword swing speed
good i hate stunlocking with greatswords and i use them.
besides, you can still 2h r1-r2 combo with the claymore so who gives a s***. the mlgs has it's awesome r2's still too, and everyone's poise is going to be garbage after the patch hits so this makes sense.
just don't rely on r1 spam as much anymore and focus on your combos instead.

Re: new greatsword swing speed
I did quite a bit of PvP last night on PC, enough to earn 50 humanity, mostly at kiln. I was SL-85, darkwraithing and also getting invaded a lot by Darkmoon and Darkwraith. Here are some observations relating to greatswords:
-People generally have less poise now (due to DWGR nerf)
-^ only wolf ring users seem to have high enough poise to resist stun from a GS or curved GS
-GS users seem to be playing 1-handed more often than they used to, and due to most opponenets having lower poise, they seem to be trying to stunlock with 1H R1 attacks now since the speed 1H wasn't nerfed
-I tried out a Gravelord GS for a while with excellent results. Most people stunned on 1st or 2nd hit
It seems the new essential poise breaking point is 36 instead of 53 in order to resist 1H GS stunlock. People still want to fast roll and aren't as afraid of GSs. Going 2H with a curved GS gives an advantage against players with this mentality. Of course, katanas are still extremely popular and effective with an even faster combo speed. (I swear the chaos blade has more weight in terms of poise-breaking than the other katanas). I think I'm gonna take off my RoFaP and equip havel's + wolf for better poise. With havel's + RoFaP, I still can't get up to 53 poise at <25% equip.
Anyway, those are my observations on GS viability in the evolving meta-game. I didn't see very many GS users at all last night. Only a few. I saw mostly silver tracer crit fishers and katana users. Only one other guy was using the gravelord GS, but I can predict they will become much more popular as SL99-120 pvp heats up on PCs.
