So, I always thought the flavor text about lightning being super effective against dragons in this game was complete nonsense (because it never seemed to work against blue drakes that well).... but today I chanced upon this video.

Relevant part occurs at 10:40

OH SNAP SHE STAGGERED THE HELLKITE WYVERN WITH A SUNLIGHT SPEAR!

I don't know if this was intended only for the lightning spear line of miracles or not, though. Has anyone else tried staggering the wyvern with other ranged attacks (bow, soul spear, etc)? Also, does anyone know of any other snazzy effects that lightning has against dragons?

Kinda odd how the Hellkite Dragon blocks the Sunlight Alter where you get lightning based items, eh. As if he doesn't want anyone to get it.

It was the headshot. You can do the same with the CSS and DSB by nailing his noggin.

Aah, that clears things up. I suppose lightning is as useless against dragons as I initially expected, then?

Err... It is plenty effective against Seath, Gaping Dragon, and the Bridge Wyvern, so it is far from useless. The only exception here is the blue drakes, but that is to be expected, as those bastards spew lightning out of their mouths after all an obvious sight that lightning is not their weakness (but I shouldn't forget the Firesage Demon...) And then of course, we have the immortal Stone Dragon...

Lightning is effective against dragons.. but this is dark souls, you shouldn't expect a 200 percent damage boost cookie for using the right weapon potentially accidentally silly
