Once more unto the breach Empty Once more unto the breach

Post by Bawheidbob Thu Sep 13, 2012 5:33 pm

Well after losing my saved game many months ago - Although admittedly i had not gotten far - I have decided to load up and try again.

After much deliberating i have decided this time round to go for a dex/int playstle as being able to move fast with and using a faster one handed sword with hopefully some magic thrown in seemed like a decent way to go.

I have not yet decided on a weapon i had thought about a rapier but i did like my kick move when i played before.

We shall see how i get along - Friday tomorrow and i have the weekend off work so i plan to drag myself off Guild Wars 2 and give this game another go - Hopefully the plan is to update you folks with my spectacular progress and if you do happen to invade me over the course of my journey please be gentle happy

I may be wrong about this, but I seem to remember Velka's Rapier scaling with INT...
Anyways, I made a Dex/Int build in times past, and Velka's Rapier was part of my beast-mode gear, so maybe give it a try! It doesn't have the kick, but it does have a unique backwards strike that's pretty fun to use...

Best of luck to you sir!

I would say Velka's rapier also but as a backup weapon. and use a katana with crystal magic weapon as a main.
Use your buffed katana till the buff runs out and switch to Velka's to finish the job.

Wanderer's a good starting class for an Int/Dex build. Good call.

Might I suggest the Balder Side Sword as your primary weapon? Or perhaps the Silver Knight Sword? Both deal good damage and scale well with dexterity, and both get the kick. The Balder Side Sword is easy enough to form from the Balder Knights in the Undead Parish and has been a killer tool for my ranger-style character -- I even managed to kill a glitched, lightning-claymore invader at level 35 with only a Balder Side Sword +5.

Int/Dex builds are great for buffing, since Sorcery has three good buffs with multiple uses, so they're useful in PvE and PvP alike. You can absolutely thrash bosses with the spell Great Magic Weapon on a Balder Side Sword.

It's a well-used weapon for a bunch of good reasons. Plus it looks pretty stylish, too.

Ding Dong Ding Dong - Me and Mr Sunlight took down the gargoyles earlier - It was quite tough and alas he did not survive the encounter.

I also met my first invader - He was not a very nice chap happy

Oh well the only way is down from here.

Most invaders around the Undead Burg/Parish/Lower Burg are absolute twats who glitch themselves endgame gear, unfortunately. This also applies to Blighttown and even a bit to Sen's Fortress. By the time you hit Anor Londo, though, you should be able to even the playing field nicely when it comes to the state of your gear.

Well thanks to a helpful player i managed to get past the Capra Demon, after several failed attempts this morning i decided to try reverse my hollowing and try a summon.

Worked out great so big thanks to him.

Now i am deep in the depths but i despair not because i just found a bonfire (Although i am hollow again thanks to some kind chap with a fiery axe)

    Were going underground....

    Edit

Oh and i got my Balder Side Sword as well and got it +5 its very nice so thanks for the advice on that one.

By the way, after the Depths comes Blighttown. It's pretty rough, so you might want to try Darkroot Garden (just down from the blacksmith in the Parish) and returning to the Undead Asylum first.

What!? While he's at it, he might as well take out Havel and the Hydra, oh and let's not forget the Asylum Demon's uglier brother in the Asylum. Walkovers, all of them, way easier than Blighttown.

I would certainly consider all those things easier than Blighttown, particularly Havel. There's a lot of good loot to be found from doing those sections, anyway, and the souls gained translate into additional levels and can ease the psychological torment that is Blighttown.

Well i have taken down Havel and the Hydra, I also took myself back to the Asylum and picked up a peculiar doll (no idea what that is about) and a handy ring that lets me run about in the water. I tried a few times to take down the boss there but he just gave me the lol.

Feeling pretty confident about going to Blightown now - although admittedly confidence is probably misguided. I will keep you posted.

You can stay behind the Stray Demon to beat him, he's tough as heck to fight head on.

Well tonight did not go as planned. I got distracted slightly and went for a bit of a wander - Picked up a nice red dress and a few dragon scales then proceeded to get stuck in a tree for about 30 minutes looking for a way back to the 'safety' of the swamp.

Eventally managed to get back to my beloved Blightown so tomorrow its time to go see her.

She was a tough fight - I wiped several times without really hurting her.

Then i found the power within - magic weapon combo and she went down kinda easy. Took out Discharge as well - That armour set he guards is damn nice. Butterfly down as well just because i could.

Balder Side Sword now at +8 and i am resting up at Andre's to prep myself for the journey into Sen's.

It means that the Gravelord that cursed your world was defeated by one of the players whose world he cursed. 99 times out of a hundred you'll see that message having never seen one of the Black Phantoms that are supposed to precede it. You never even know you were Gravelorded.

Going through Sen's with your BSS already +8 is pretty good. You should be well ready for 0 & S when the time comes.

I found a lightning spear in Sen's and it seems to be just way overpowered compared to my sword. I have switched over to the spear for a while as it does hit pretty hard.

If your dex is fairly high your BSS might do better against the boss, especially its R2. Pretty heavy ltng. resist on 1 of the bosses.
