Invader within you...

I make this thread due to the following story:

Expecting a duel, I invade and I find myself invading a fellow player (most likely in NG+ or subsequent) with a phantom. This player has proceeded to strike down the Black Knight in the Burg just as I had invaded. Seeing as I don't know what awaits me (I didn't know about the Phantom at the time) I take the risky shortcut and nail it (Like a boss). At the end of the corridor I see the host with his back turned to me, chugging estus. I proceed to follow him with my DGM (A sure 1-shot) and he proceeds to be oblivious of me as he backtracks with his phantom up-front.

They both have Artorias' Greatshields (No way I'm breaking that with any weapon) and are 100% likely to gank me at first sight, but I'm right behind them...and they don't know it. I'm Medium rolling, they might be ninja flipping. They have spears and Greatswords. The odds are not in my favor.

So my inner invader awakens and I instantly backstab kill the host in incredible irony. The poor lad didn't see it coming, then I strike down the phantom mercilessly.

So we know we usually have some etiquette when considering dueling, but when there is no duel and only invasions, what cruel acts do you commit? Or do you ignore your duty as invader and leave?

P.S: I felt bad for the guy/girl and messaged them to watch their backs for any sneaky invader utilizing that shortcut. Although I'm not sure I should be giving tips to people already on NG+...

When I'm invading I'm the least nice person. I hide around corners and fire tempest in Sen's, I WoG all over Duke's. I never bow. I BS any attempts to eat grass, buff, bow, anything.

I think Giantmom looks awful, and I've actually grown really attached to fast rolling over flipping. But I still invade with Giantmom because I want people to see it and be upset.

A favorite is stun+bs+wakeup (tempest if I can,) very few survive that.

The stealth aoe cast is fun too.

Okay fine one story I guess...I follow these 2 guys that had BKGA's all the way down to the crystal caves were the clams are....the phantoms see me and I always go after phantoms 1st so it worked well...he turns around and does a turtle 1 hand chop which I proceeded to OHKO parry...then the host BS me as I finish the parry...he goes for a chain BS which I hoped for I did nothing so I would have my invincibility and face him when I stood up...parryd his chain attempt for a OHKO....

So then I go back to my fire and us my red orb...guess who I invade? Ya you got it same guy and I know his humanity and souls are down in the caves...I spawn to 'summoning phantom' but when I got to the fire he was solo...he came right at me BS fishing and I let him BS me sort of as a test...guess who went for a chain BS and got OHKO parryd again?

Edit speaking of dukes hitting 3 people that you followed down to the golden golem on the bridge with a fire tempest and knocking them all off never gets old

So I was invading as a Darkwrath on one of my characters and trying to have fair duels. (This was before I joined the forums) I kept on invading this guys game and always bowed before fighting. He of course didn't and would always stab me in the back as I bowed. After the second time got fed up with it and for a third time I invaded his game. I looked for a bit before I found him screwing around by one of the cliffs in the Tomb of the Giants. I just rolled right over to him and used WotG right by him and knocked him right off the cliff.


After that he spammed by inbox for 15 minutes straight about how I suck.

In Anor very few people know that you can go part way up the stairs from the O and S fire...then jump from the stairs on to the upper walkway that leads to the locked room that you usually have to take the rooftop to get to(O and S shortcut room with the SK's)...so when they get there from the rooftop I am already there waiting down with the SK's and they are like wtf????

I did a Darkstalker challenge were I had to give Billy a 30 second head start and then get him...he ran into the halls of Anor and did the jumping thinking I would have to go all the way around like most...boy was he surprised when I also made the jump and pivot BS'd him

Once,I invaded someone in the Klin as a SoV and while I was bowing to him,he pivot BS'd me and OS'd me like a baws.

Second round,I run discretely behind the big pillar near the first Black Knight,threw a TWoP when he tried to BS the Black Knight and combo'd him with the knight to death.

I have no shame o/

Sinners are usually bad people but when they gank/BS while you bow,no mercy dawg \o/

I invaded in the pw and couldn't find the host. After about 5 minutes I gte impatient and use my expert pw knowledge to get to prissys fog gate ahead of the host. I positioned myself on the bridge in one of the square divets in the pillars so that I couldn't be seen but could see the door, pulled out the rof, drew an arrow with the dsgb and settled in. Eventually a host and his phantom show up and work there way up the bridge. I proceeded to blast the host off the bridge while he was fighting the berntike knight.

Hatemail insued.

When I invade I invade to duel, if the person doesn't bow or attack first I drop a humanity and BC out.

If I am out numbered though I try to F them up, regardless if they are doing pve or ganking.

I invaded once in the forest and the host was mid fight with the hydra, any **** dark wraith could have ganked right there, but I dropped a humanity for host to use after the hydra fight, while I stood in the distance doing the joy emote for every head she chopped off. After hydra was killed I bowed, showed I wanted to fight, host ran to where the crystal gold golem is to rescue that chick, again I did not attack.

After all said and done he/she sent me a message thanking me for not attacking as it was his 4th attempt to kill hydra after being ganked 3x prior, and just wanted to rescue dusk.

Personal favorite is when I slowly approach a panicking host. Usually they'll try attack, but I'll blind parry them or just casually side step and continue til they back themselves against something. Then I strike, and it ends beautifully. Best is when it ends in 3-4 swings in a few seconds and I take no damage at all.

One of the best ways to *** with people is to open up the door to the demon titanite by onion bro. The silver knights agro as soon as they poke in the door. Push them toward the bow knight for extra fun.

I dont think back stabbing the host was a 'cruel act' you were and invader out for his souls and humanity, its the only reason you would invade vs waiting for a duel, and you did what was the safest and easiest method of obtaining those souls.

If they are AFK: Drain their humanity with Dark Hand, then kill them with Skull Lantern.

If they are a group: I try to directly confront them and kill the host. If I fail the frontal assault, I will run, heal, and proceed to use hiding and deception to win. Anything goes in both situations.

If most 1v1 invasions, I consider them duels so I show respect in the standard way. Though there are some times I just don't give a *** and I want to punish someone so I just kill them as quickly as I can.

Also I love to throw people off cliffs with Force.

I prefer to kick the off cliffs and ledges...I find it more personable

I almost always invade as a DM because it's my favorite covenant. I have some etiquette like no chainstabbing or healing if they heal first, but I always kill the damn sinners without mercy. I don't treat invasions like duels so everything goes, but most of the time I only run out to the mobs if it's 2 or 3 vs 1 and heal with humanity. I will stunlock, spam spells, fish for the backstab, anything that it's consider non cheap by experienced players, but might be cheap for the newbies. Of course if they bow I'll stop and bow back and will treat the invasion like a duel. I'm always hungry for the guilty and love to hunt them.

when ever i see AFK people i try to get their life down to a sliver as low as i can with out killing them, then flood the ground around them with prism stones and BC out.

I love to use stealh in invasions..... so awesome when my ambush comes off and one of the hosts sunbros suddenly dissappears and the phantom vanquished sign appears to the host.

I always start off any little encounter (whether I'm the invader or the one being invaded) with a bow. About a quarter of the time this gets me instantly back stabbed for my trouble. Generally though, I've found that the other person will return the bow and we have ourselves a nice little duel... When they don't do so, however, and they either don't take full advantage of my stupid bowing mistake or I survive the initial attack, I tend to just kind of do everything that I can to make the fight a living hell for them.

My main is at SL110 and at any given time I am alts carrying some kind of healing miracle, sunlight blade, toxic/poison mist, and usually Emit Force. I generally use all of them to ensure survivability and cause them to keep their distance while I use the environment itself as my main weapon. I can not even begin to tell you how many invaders I have managed to get to fall off ledges trying to avoid sunlight-blessed Dragon Tooth or +15 pike thrusts, or how many invadees I have managed to get cursed in the sewers or sent plummeting to their deaths in Sen's Fortress...

Being a dark wraith I tend to just constantly spam invasions when I get bored of normal story progression at this point...

I don't attack afk players. (well, players I believe to be afk) There are a couple of reasons.

1: I've been known to pretend to be afk then counter parry the bs attempt

2: its a prick move, its not like punishing a mistake which is a learning experience. They could have gotten a call or be running off to answer their crying child (where they shouldn't stop to turn off the game.)

If they're not actually playing the game, me killing them is just being a douche.

I've done some bad things invading, my favorite is to hide behind corners and cast fire tempest, I've got a Dusk Crown+BDC pyro build at 55 and it's always overkill. When I use Power Within too, I hit people through their GC shield for almost 400 damage with GC, terrifies the hell out of them. Also, RtsR bs, that never fails to kill either. I invaded a Patches cosplay once in the catacombs, he dodged all my pyro and proceeded to poke me down to nil HP with his spear, my Rtsr triggered and I, without doing a single HP worth of damage before, roll bs him for all of his 950 HP. I don't even feel bad about it.

Hey Forum I put on a base caestus and hit them with those crazy uppercuts...with the hopes that they will come back right as there toon is being flung through the air

But seriously tho attacking afk players is not cool and a douche move....there is one and only one exception however and that's idle forest hunters....they are a the lowest of the low and are afk on purpose and ruin it for other hunters... ill go find one and wait by him till another hunter shows...then I point down the other hunter usually does the same....then I kick him to the nearest ledge he is not worthy of a quick death...once at the ledge I dark hand some humanity and kick his azz off

If I see someone at the giant blacksmith, and they don't leave and try to fight me, I pelt them with Dung Pies and Lloyd's. It is not killing them, but makes them prioritize. Stay and do whatever the heck they are doing and lose your health, or fight me.

Plus, if someone is just standing there when I invade, even if they are afk, I kill them. I may kick the ma few times or do a fist BS to get their attention. But, I'm invading. I'm not going to sit there and wait until they are off the phone. I mean, it takes 2 seconds to quit the game. I can do it in the middle of falls and not die.

I think the guys who drop something goofy or surround an afk host with Prism Stones and then crystal out are good for the game. Those players are few and far between, unfortunately.
