    Firekeepers Empty Firekeepers

    Post by 3DHero Sun Sep 23, 2012 9:30 am

Has anyone noticed that, all of the fire keepers in the game are female? (no offense)

I don't know if this is something to do with there family backgrounds or there chosen to be a fire keeper?

I think it's because of the theme that women are the nurturers/live-givers and they preside over the bonfire.

There is also an idea that Humanity is stronger in women, which reinforces their stature as Firekeepers.

Humanity is held in the bosom, so yeah, not being weird about it, but it makes sense for that reason alone that all the Firekeepers are female, even the dead ones have female bodies. All female characters also have more humanity than the male ones when you Dark Hand them.

Females just draw more humanity to them. I'm pretty sure all the dead bodies you find with twin humanities are female. They can draw humanity to them easier to feed the bonfire.
Mariano are you joking or do you have evidence to back that up? Especially considering the DM firekeeper definitely isnt a priestess of Gwynevere.

I guess Gwynevere would have a lot of humanity, eh?

If you know what I mean.

Every firekeeper is apparently linked in one way or another to Gwynevere. The one in Anor Londo is a knight of Gwynevere, the one in firelink is a Maiden (just like Rhea) with the clothes darkened by the ashes and etc. I find really interesting too that there's no bonfire in New Londo but there is a Firekeeper Soul, so I think there was a bonfire in that spot, but the firekeeper died in the flooding of New Londo.

The obviously non-gwynevere firekeeper is the Daughter of Chaos, but there's a explanation for that on her soul description:

"Soul of a Daughter of Chaos, Fire Keeper of Quelaag's Domain.
A Fire Keeper's soul is a draw for humanity, and held within their bosoms, below just a thin layer of skin, are swarms of humanity that writhe and squirm. To her, the countless eggs which appeared were cradles for each tiny humanity."

So the Daughter of Chaos was infecting people with eggs to drain humanity and souls from then... probably to feed or try new experiments like the Bed of Chaos.

How is it that some Fire Keepers appear to be able to talk freely (Anor Londo), but others are not permitted to (Firelink)? :suspect:

I think is more a thing of faith... when you revive the firekeeper on firelink shrine (after Lautrec kills her) she talks to you, but ask to you not talk to much because she says she is impure (that's why she was not talking before). Maybe she think is impure because of her darkened clothes or maybes she did something impure and ended locked up in the firelink shrine.

By her saying "I am impure, my tongue never intended for restoration" this would appear to indicate that she was not supposed to speak to begin with, which together with the fact that she is locked-up could be an indication that she had done something wrong, and that this was her punishment for it. So come on, what do you think she did that was so bad? :suspect:

Maybe she ventured into Lordran without permission, or felt in love by some knight (most priestess within popular culture must be celibate)

This makes sense....since she is sitting in a pool of blood. (hence the blood-stained skirt) I always figured she cut out her own tongue.

Her tongue is cut out... she speaks when you revive her.
